Ghostwire: Tokyo[a] is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is set to be released worldwide on March 25, 2022 for exclusively PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Windows. Deluxe edition is set early access for digital pre-order directly to PlayStation Store will be released on March 22, 2022. In this video Dremacastguy does a brutally honest review for Ghostwire Tokyo played on PS5. This is talk of the first few chapters of the game in a review style format. Ghostwire: Tokyo is an action-adventure game played from a first-person perspective. The player can use various psychic and paranormal abilities to defeat the ghosts and spirits haunting Tokyo. Combat director Shinichiro Hara described the combat as "karate meets magic", as the player character utilizes hand movements inspired by Kuji-kiri hand gestures to cast spells. When an enemy loses most of their health, its core is exposed and the player can use takedown moves to destroy it, defeating the spirit. Nearly all of Tokyo's citizens have vanished mysteriously, and otherworldly spirits (known as Visitors) have invaded the city. Akito, the game's protagonist, is possessed by a spirit detective named KK, who, while having his own agenda, grants him supernatural powers. As Akito combats the spirits haunting the city, he encounters a group wearing Hannya masks who may unveil the mystery behind the strange events in Tokyo.

Just finished it today with everything collected. Was a pretty good game. Unique combat and I had fun with the world traversal. I had zero issues with flying around and the platforming. I thought it felt great. Though, I think you were calling the enemies "visions", but I think they were called "visitors". Would love another one of these games with more weaves and expanded combat.

Back in the announcement trailer, it was creepy, tripy and gave the vibe that the entire world was being warped and you were alone fighting the odds like a real horror game.

Now it's just another checklist, pick-em up sandbox game.

DCG, just want to say, even when I agree or disagree with you, you're one of my favorite youtube channels. Even when I don't care about the games you discuss I still watch your videos. I love your personality and it keeps me watching. I like this game a lot but I for sure get why a lot might not. But as usual I appreciate your viewpoint. You have a fun natured personality and it's pretty cool viewing your content due to that. Don't know if you'll see this comment but I just thought I'd say something about it. Again. Even if I disagree with you (we all have different opinions afterall) I just like how much love you clearly put into your videos. Really wish more of this type of game are being made. Maybe a Supernatural optional co-op style with Dean/Sam Winchester.

Even though the final product is not what I expected, I'll give it a chance one of these days. I just have a ton on my plate right now... Seems like a unique game that's worth seeing through. It's art style is enticing.

A ton of people seem to think that everything that comes out now is either "amazing" or "garbage", and there never seems to be room for anything in between. They're too attached to arbitrary numbers that form their opinions for them.

A game can just be "decent" and still worth playing.

As much as i like all the folklore stuff, this game looks kinda boring and shallow. Also, super disappointed that they didnt take more of a horror approach with this game, as that was probably the biggest selling point for me. Watching headless schoolgirls dance while you shoot rainbow beams at them, is kinda ridiculous. I guess it fits with the general Japanese weirdness? But its not exactly what i was looking for with this game. It should have been darker and spookier, without all the flashing colors.

Ahh well, might grab it when its on sale or something, if i dont forget that it exists.

those monsters are likely more intimidating to a japanese player, since theyre based on Yokai and Japanese Ghost stories

I will be playing this in a year or so when I finish Elden Ring, Forbidden West and GT7. It looks great I just have too much to play and limited time to play recently.

Honestly I expected a 6-7/10 the locations look great but everything about this game looks bland, empty, and mediocre.

I expect it to be an 7.5/10 but I’m a huge fan of Shinji Mikami so I always buy his stuff.
