The charismatic church is the fastest growing part of the global church. But not all Christians believe gifts of tongues, prophecy and healing are for today.

Doug Wilson, pastor of Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho is a cessationist. He believes the charismatic gifts ceased with the closure of scripture. He engages with Michael Brown, host of the Line of Fire radio show and proponent of prophecy and charismatic gifts.

Love the humility and openness. “But if I’m wrong, I always want to be corrected.” That statement in itself if used from every believer would change everything.

I love how Michael Brown is so beautifully loving and complimentary to Doug Wilson. He is an example of lifting up another Christian rather than putting him/her down.

I admire both these men greatly. I went to Israel on a tour led by Michael Brown a few years ago. I follow Doug Wilson daily. Blessings upon them both.

Both men are brothers in Christ but Michael Brown is biblically sound on this subject. Thank you God for the precious, powerful, amazing Holy Spirit.

I spent about 25 yrs in an Assemblies of God church, which I loved. They continually prayed for, and with, me regarding speaking in tongues. I felt like a failure, like I wasn’t doing enough, didn’t have enough faith, etc., because I was not receiving this gift. A special guest once had the entire congregation pray over me and he kept telling me to just say aloud whatever sound was in my head. It felt so wrong & yet I thought this was truth. Now I have a much different perspective. What I should have been told was, “read your Bible. Study the Word.” Thanks for this discussion, it was very good!

Ironically Douglas Wilson is the most prophetic minister of our time.

Woe. WOE, Brother Brown. i am a handicapped Veteran, paralyzed from the waste down. i have assembled my Elders at Faithfully Obedient Church, in Faithful Obedience We Assembled and prayed. You just said, "This is a regular thing. If We dont see this, something is wrong!" WOE. i am saddened nd full of Righteous Indignation that a Brother would say such a thing! If i were weaker in the Faith... This teaching is hurting people, period . If You are Suffering and You read this, do Not believe that. JESUS Can Heal You, Absolutely; but HE Says, "We are Blessed to Suffer with HIM"! We are called to Suffer for CHRIST and persevere till the end -yes, quoting GOD.

I'm only 25m in, and I really love the hearts of these 2 men! ❤

This is how discourse and our love for each other should be.

*Church, take notes!*

If we simply read the text we will not walk away with Doug's understanding of Scripture

Really impressed by the respect and patience shown by both men in disagreement. God bless and lead us onward to the glory of Christ in delivering the world to The Father. Amen.

I have a huge amount of respect for Doug Wilson and the tremendous blessing he is to the body of Christ

That being said, he was shredded in this debate. Dr Michael Brown clearly has the more biblical position, and that’s all that matters to me

I found Doug Wilson during covid when we were all locked in our houses. A voice of reason and wisdom in a world of insanity.

I’ve never scrolled through comments in a debate where no one had anything snippy to say about the speakers 🤣. But this speaks to the Character and gracefulness of both these men. I have enjoyed both these men's ministries and will continue to do so even though I am not a cessationist.

Regarding cessationism I could never be one as when 2 years old, I was run over by a 1978 ford station wagon twice across my chest (forward and then in reverse). When I arrived at the hospital, my father's pastor arrived and prayed over me as no one could do anything. At that moment, I stopped squirming and fell asleep. When they ran tests on me they couldn't find anything wrong with me whatsoever. In addition, I was kept for two weeks as they could not believe nothing was wrong with me.

To this day, this Pastor’s, who has gone on to be with the Lord, name pops up in connection with someone being healed who he prayed for. Therefore, in my opinion he operated in the gift of healing.

Where Jesus is, there is mercy. Where Jesus is, there is compassion. Where Jesus is, there is forgiveness. Where Jesus is, there is healing. Where Jesus is, there is peace. May all who seek Jesus find him and experience his mercy, compassion, forgiveness, healing, and peace. Amen Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus!

The more consistent application of Biblical hermeneutics is being displayed by Dr. Brown. Good job!
