I'm completely opposed to the death penalty, but Marcellus Williams was almost certainly guilty. If you read the court documents, there is a lot of evidence against him. For example, Williams never denied that he sold Gayle's husband's laptop to Roberts. How did he get Gayle's laptop? Why did Williams' girlfriend say that he confessed to her, and that she found Gayle's purse and driver's license in Williams' trunk? His girlfriend also told police that Williams drove the knife into Gayle's neck and the knife got stuck, a detail which was not publicly known.

You would need a whole bunch of wild coincidences for him not to be the murderer. Williams is an odd choice for the Left to make a martyr.
