Hej Brian thanks for the video. Absolutely, Windows update error codes can be due to many different reasons, such as:
- Old drivers that need to be updated.
- Corrupt system files in Windows.
- Corrupt files in the Windows update directory itself (which you also show in your video).
- It's also good if you start maintenance manually, which is in the control panel, and it's also good if you run disk cleanup in Windows in two sweeps, first a normal one, then delete system files and so on. And it's definitely a good idea to run the sfc /scannow command in cmd and check if Windows System files are corrupt. Sometimes sfc /scannow cannot fix the Windows system files if they are corrupt, then you have to go deeper into Windows and fix the Windows System files that are corrupt. So a lot of maintenance is required in Windows depending on the computer you have, but very good Brian for uploading videos like this because there are many regular users out there who get big problems when they get error codes in Windows and don't know what to do when that happens. I've had a weekend of this! I ended up doing two reinstalls (one keeping everything and one clean, supposedly), after which I've put Debian alongside to watch over it, lol! One thing I don't like is 11's move away from the control panel as settings doesn't let you get at the meat and potatoes, as it were.

These techniques unfortunately don't allow me to install kb5041580. I tried to uninstall recent updates, but logging in as an administrative account and even running in an administrative command prompt wusa /uninstall /kb:5042097 failed to uninstall updates. wusa /uninstall /kb:5042097 fails, stating KB is required by your computer and cannot be uninstalled.

Any ideas on how to remove recent updates that fail due to Windows thinking they are required by the computer?
