ADV for Misato really gives a different vibe.

Netflix Kaji sounds like Spike Spiegel. It's pretty fitting.

I like both. They both voices have their own personality.

Asuka wears red.
Shinji wears blue.
Netflix forgot about Fly Me To The Moon.

Adv Shinji is always best Shinji because only Spike Spencer would go on a 2 minute long rant about the ending of nge while the credits roll and fly me to the moon is playing in the background

I like the Netflix version and actually think it is better in some areas, but Spike Spencer is still the better Shinji.

I know that in the original japanese dub Asuka address Kaji with honorific hence why the netflix dub is more representative to the original dub when Asuka said "Mr Kaji". However, I like how ADV dub took the liberty to make Asuka call him Kaji without honorific. It fits her character better because Asuka didn't grow up in Japan and had western heritage.

I prefer the original ADV dub. Misato, Shinji and Asuka sound way better and lively. They literally add more personality in some very small ways. Which is why in the new movies Spike, Tiffany and Alison were brought back. But I do like Johny Young Bosch in the Netflix dub, but that is the only thing I like.

The original 90s dub had more grit and personality to the voices. They have more force and emotion. I liked that.

Unpopular opinion but the netflix version of shinji actually does sound like a boy who's in the middle stages of puberty.

I feel like the ADV dub has that 90s anime dub feel of giving characters more distinct voices. The new dub just sounds like every day people speaking. I prefer the more distinct voices as I can spot them out very easily, while a lot of recent voice over work tends to all melt together and sound very same-y.

Honestly the Netflix dub was pretty good idk why there were a lot of people hating on it.

I’ve rewatched this clip a lot and seeing as I just finished NGE on the Netflix dub less than a week ago, my opinion probably doesn’t have a high value but I honestly think they’re both good on their own merits, no matter which one is better or worse. I could easily see myself liking the original dub but I’m happy with what I got from Netflix and if there’s people who aren’t, they can always rewatch the original (or at least I think so, apparently this show is really rare despite its popularity)

Nobody talking about how great the ADV's admiral's voice was, especially compared to the Netflix version.

I'm really glad they brought back the ADV actors for the Rebuild movies.

Misato sounds more commanding, professional, and assertive in the ADV.

I don't see anyone else mentioning this, but one of my biggest gripes with the Netflix dub is that to me the dialogue sometimes feels a lot more like it was run straight through a translator, while the ADV dub takes a bit of liberty with the translated dialogue to make it sound more like actual english sentences. The little Netflix quirks like "second children"(why is it always plural, it's just one person!?) and "The Central Dogma" just bug me constantly too.
