This is a short summary of Dale Carnegie’s amazing book “How to Win Friends and Influence People”

I highly recommend buying a copy of this book which goes into much greater detail and wouldn't be possible to cover in a 20 minute video. This classic book deserves a place on everyone's bookshelf!

The fact that nobody talks about the book social secrets mastery speaks volumes about why people struggle to build real connections…

I learned all this by myself. It took 20 years. The hard part of reading a book about anything is putting it into practice and making it work for you.

I think its important to recognize that there will be people who also take advantage of certain kinds of kindness and then have expectations of you to treat them with the same level from then on without reciprocating the energy with you. sometimes its better to just keep to yourself.

As a 60 years old man who broke each and everyone of these rules, I can tell that they are true. Advice for the young: do not be fooled by anything else. Follow these rules by the letter. If it means losing somebody, so be it. They were not worthy.

Was thinking to read this book from 6 months. Read somewhat and forgot. Glad you posted the video now it will be fun to watch without any knowledge about it.

This was one of the first self-help books I read, and remains second on my personal list right behind How to Be Miserable: 40 Steps You Already Use by Randy Patterson. I was thrilled to see you had animated this. Thank you! 🎉

I dont know how to articulate this best but this video felt very enlighting to me. I
often struggle to even speak up on topics where I think I could lack some knowledge. This video really motivated me to accept the fact that even if I may not know everything about a topic, I should try to express my opinions in order to learn how to articulate my opinions and thoughts with more clarity.

My biggest takeaway from How to Win Friends... is that when you engage in conversation with adults, it's always paramount to make the conversation about the other person that you are speaking with. And you know what - it works!- it generally makes you more likeable. However it makes you realizes that most people you are engaging with really are self-centered because start realizing and counting number of times the other person pulls the conversation back to themselves just by using the phrase 'well I did such and such' or dime turning the topic back to themselves.

The thing I hate about this is I did a lot of this naturally most of my life. I always had no issue making people like me. After awhile, I realized I’m consistently the only one putting work into the relationship. Every relationship… People around me get comfortable and maintain friendship/relationship cruise control, while all the heavy burden of nurturing and tending the relationship falls onto me. One day, I just stopped. Surprise surprise, most the people I considered close friends just vanished. What is the solution to making balanced friendships where you yourself aren’t the anchor to the whole friendship? It’s exhausting and lonely having no one putting work into me the way I put work into others.
