Nice video Brian. I have been using this software to hide updates for over a year now. It has been a life saver. Less headaches is a plus for us that work in IT.

As always. thanx for another goody. BTW: I found that if you click on update pauses multiple times, it will accumulate. I set mine for about a month.👍👍👍

Wow wish I knew about this earlier; I was able to resize the partition by following a guide on YouTube. Thankfully nothing broke that I'm aware of. (Computer is booting up just fine ect.). But I agree get this and save the hassle of trying to figure it out.

Windows really needs to double check their work and make sure their updates don't crash or need resizing that shouldn't be something that a customer has to do.

Thanks Brian, I'll bear this in mind if any of my Windows PCs have problems with any of the latest updates. I'm sure my Linux PCs will be fine - owning a few Linux PCs (and updating them) reveals what a mess the Windows update system is.
All of these episodes serve as useful reminders that we must all take responsibility for keeping precious user data backed up. I like to use external USB hard drives for this and prefer to run backups from a terminal session. On Linux I use rsync and on Windows I use xcopy.

You are so right. I tried to shrink the C partition with Minitool. Unfortunately on reboot it hanged. After an hour of nothing happening I did a risky hard reset. I was very fortunate to get back to the Desktop with no issues. I wont try that again in a hurry. Have now taken your advice and hidden the update.

You’re a lifesaver for a lot of MS user. Perfect video as usual. Take care. BTW I use Linux and I like it.

Outstanding... I just hid my Problem... My Windows Update no longer has an error anymore. I am anxious to see when the next update comes from Microsoft that it installs ok.

I have used FREE partition managers to resize in the past. Partition Magic comes to mind... Look forward to see how you do it. Thx for sharing..

I have sucessfuly resized the partitions on 5 w 10 computers by resizing the partitions and the update worked.
Something only advanced users should do

What the Windows world really needs is for someone to write a tool that allows you to refuse specific updates, permanently. You know, like the way Windows USED to be, before Microsoft decided that your system belongs to them and they can do anything they want with it.

I remember downloading the app hide/update from your site. Kept it just in case MS removes it. Thank You!!!

You can pause updates for over a month.
On Windows update go to Advance Options select Pause Updates> Pause until drop down menu and select the last date.
I paused updates until 14 February.
I do this all the time.

Cheers Brian, great to have a heads up about this. I set my friends and family members PC's up to update at least two weeks after MS release the updates for this exact reason. I've made a camtasia video showing them how to hide the update because they're all non tech savvy at all. Plus saved me a headache because without this info I'd have been inundated with WTF messages, even though I packed in being the PC guy many moons ago.

Thanks for the reminder about this Show or Hide Updates troubleshooter. I first used it in 2015 along with the Windows Update Diagnostic troubleshooter.

Yeah, Brian🙌
The show hide tool also works on Windows 11. It may give you a deprication notice; just ignore it.
It you use Group Policy to block driver updates, they will appear in the tool as hidden updates.
And... after you run the tool, the update you hid may show up in Windows Updates for a while, but it will go away.

First of all, I genuinely appreciate you creating these videos. You are one of the very few individuals who I trust and have learned a lot from. Your videos are awesome, very accurate and reliable. Thank You.
Here is a question I am hoping someone can help me answer: For some reason I have two recovery partitions on my C:\ One is 532MB and the other one 12.22 GB in size. Does anyone know why there two recovery partitions on my PC and how can I determine the smaller one is too small and cause for not being able to install the MS Security update?

I used a 3rd-party tool to disable updates completely about a month ago, as I had a feeling M$ would start "accidentally" breaking W10 to get more users onto W11. I rarely doubt they are going to change W10 to be significantly better than 22H2, even after the continued "paid updates" knee bending by M$

It seems that this may be the beginning of that pattern, but hopefully not. I would keep an eye out, fellow W10 users...
