Hi, Great channel, and good video! So, I'd like to mention a few things, I've read that group policy has reset on people changing their adjustments, I'm guessing from big OS updates, perhaps. Or maybe they didn't edit GP correctly, I suppose. Also, I feel like more advanced users, or power users, will probably feel comfortable using registry editor and/or GP editor, but less techie types may not. Because of this, I tend to tell end users to use the show/hide utility, or the Windows Update Management Tool. These tools are by Microsoft and one could download them from MS. However, with that said, it seems like finding these tools is more difficult than it used to be. Luckily, Major Geeks still has the show / hide utility for downloading.

Anyway, I find these tools to be much easier for the average end user, as they can easily disable updates they don't want and if they need to re-enable them, they can re run the tool. Also, turning off Windows driver updates completely, can potentially cause future headaches when the end user needs a driver and they don't know where to find them, or how to install said drivers. This is where Windows drivers update can helpful, (even thought a LOT of times Windows driver update can cause problems). Anyway nice video, and thanks for uploading!

I really hope this works. I've been trying everything because, no matter what I do, windows hust keeps updating my video drivers even with the basics disabled. It makes everything a mess. I truly hope this works

Yes, absolutely have had driver issues, with regard to my blueray reader/writer. Throw in external usb hard drives disappearing. Plagues me weekly. Thanks Brian!

Will this also prevent windows update from downloading drivers or it will still download them but not install them?

I turned of the motherboard firmware update during windows downloading updates but when restart to apply update it also updates the mother board firm ware now legacy support is no longer in my laptop. 😭😢

Be careful. It seems that the gpedit fix can prevent NordVPN from connecting. I was having an issue with connecting to Nord and as soon as I changed it back to Not Configured my connection was successful.

Hi Britec: Question, I recently went from 8.1 to 10 pro a couple months ago. A couple weeks ago the feature to turn off the monitor and sleep mode no longer work. I've gone into the setting several times and changed the time settings and saved. But still it will not turn off the monitor not to mention not going to sleep as I have instructed it to do. Any thoughts? Thanks for advice.
