Calcium deficiency symptoms vary from mild to severe if left untreated. But even if you don’t have any obvious signs associated with low calcium, especially early on, metabolic changes and potential dysfunctions may have already begun.

Can't do dairy at all, also a vegetarian and I'm 30. The last few years I can tell that I need more calcium. Went snowboarding a few weeks ago, fell and broke 2 ribs. Issue is I did not fall that hard. Thanks for the video, just confirmed what I was thinking.

I live in a low sun-light area, am pale, and lactose intolerant. I think I might know why my fingers are tingling now lol

Dangerously low calcium level?
Severe hypocalcemia, defined by a serum calcium <1.9 mmol/L (7.6 mg/dL), is often considered an emergency because of a potential risk of life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias or seizures.

What depletes calcium?
Eating foods that have a lot of salt (sodium) causes your body to lose calcium and can lead to bone loss. Try to limit the amount of processed foods, canned foods and salt added to the foods you eat each day. To learn if a food is high in sodium, look at the Nutrition Facts label.

What stops the body from absorbing calcium?
Many factors, including age, disease states, and medications, can affect calcium absorption. Carbohydrates may enhance calcium absorption while coffee and cigarette smoke may impede it. The best way to get calcium is through food. Many foods are fortified with calcium.

How can I raise my calcium level quickly?
Good sources of calcium include dairy foods like milk, yoghurt and cheese, calcium fortified foods (such as soy products) and, to a lesser degree, some leafy green vegetables and nuts and seeds. If you don't have enough calcium in your diet, you may be at increased risk of developing osteoporosis.

How long does it take to replenish calcium deficiency?
A few weeks of adequate calcium intake should be enough to boost your levels, but again, another blood test is the only way to know for sure.
