In 33 been training for like 15+ years and I just last night found out how to use the leg extension to target my outer quads. This whole time I’ve thought it was only a teardrop exercise and is the only place I’d ever feel it.

Common theme is to control the eccentric portion. I was so many younger lifters let the weight slam down on their chest during flat bench just to feel like they are moving more weight from the bounce. That control is what’s going to help mitigate injury and keep that time under tension high, hence more tissue damage (the good kind lol).

Is it "better" to position your knees such that the pad remains at your ankles for the whole motion, or to let it ride up your calf as the hamstring contracts?

I also always do the first 2 to 3 inches slowly instead of exploding from the start.

Honestly, at 43 and having had rather a few major surgeries during my Army time, it hurts me to NOT use a slow eccentric. I actually can't do quick hamstring curls like Jay anymore without serious pain. I don't do as much weight as I used to but I'm just as big so I'll stick with the Dr. Mike approved form. Also I'm still waiting for Dr. Mike to get back to me on some.. umm.. personal training I need help with. Yeah..

I have a weird disconnect with leg curls, I can do R.D.L.s no problem but with leg curls I instantly crap up for some reason and then leg day is done even if I go super light... So I just do other exercises now

Doctor mike. I try to do probably 2 seconds or 3. I notice you do 1 second. Am I doing too much?

Because those 2-3 seconds really lowers my volume. But i also value the stretch you taught me

Leg curls are a worthless exercise. Do stiff legged deadlifts instead.
