I was at a certain gym the fitness instructor never showed me how to use the gym equipment,  I was on my on after a month of using the I re- injured an old injury, so I appreciate your tips, Thank you.

I find my lower back keeps sliding away from the back, nat staying flush with the back pad. Is that a problem? Should I stick a towel between my lower back and the padding?

My knees burn while doing this. Could it be incorrect form or the amount of weight being lifted?

What is the difference between this and the one where the legs are under the pad and you push them upward same machine but the motion is upward instead of down ward

The macbine at my gym is a little different I think, there’s no clear way to get the upper bad above my knees, or am I doing way wrong, on this machine it doesn’t move
