More than 150 search-and-rescue missions were carried out around Asheville, North Carolina over the weekend after the city was devastated by the impacts of Hurricane Helene. Thousands of people are still without power and cell service, and flooding closed roads and destroyed homes and businesses.

While a historical footnote, this happened in Asheville North Carolina in 1916... 80 people died back then, and apparently they haven't made infrastructure which can mitigate it.

People who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it!

I hope some reads this comment around 2120.

In 2018 the voice of Asheville NC was raised that funding should go to migrates & keeping them together. But all those in 2018 will quickly switch & say- "what about OUR funding, it should come before those newcomers getting hotels..."

I can hope that the enormity of this storm will wake some people up to manmade climate change but it’s too late for many who have lost their lives or property. I’m afraid that a lot of people will see this as a, “Sign of the End Times” and be more worried about saving souls than saving the planet. They will not take responsibility for the damage they have done to God’s creation or the call to be good stewards of creation. If you think that way, then why bother to educate your children, see the doctor or make any plans at all? The devastation is horrible and these monster storms could have been avoided.
