Exactly what I needed today, thank you. I play singles with a guy who is a pusher but can lob very well when I follow the ball to the net. Will try to chip short on approach balls instead and see how it works out.

I invite them to play at a court where the ceiling is very low... haha.... Once out of frustration I just "served" / smashed the ball from the backcourt on the high bounce and afterward the other player said, he stopped lobbing because he saw I was "smashing" the ball. I didn't do it very hard, but seemed to have make him uncomfortable. So now I try to use that.

however, if you have 2 up and the lobbers are good they will lob deep and not so short that the net players can get it. Also, in doubles trying to do the short chip from deep can allow the other side's net player to pooch and put it away.

3.5/4.0? How about Murray? He went an awful long way with that thing. I'm going to try your advice next time I play my pal Ron. We'll see how it goes....
