While we believe in a limited atonement, I think it is incorrect to say that they believe in an unlimited atonement. It think it would be more accurate to say that they believe in a universal atonement, which is, of course, heresy. In some of his videos, and later in two days of text messages to me, Steven Anderson defined the Trinity this way: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each with their own separate and distinct personal body, each with their own personal spirit (except Jesus whom he claims actually has seven spirits), and each with his own personal seat of consciousness. All three are identical in outward appearance -- meaning all three look exactly like Jesus (identical triplets); and, Jesus has been, for all eternity, a human man. In my conversation with Tommy McMurtry, he affirmed Steven Anderson's definition of the Trinity, saying he believes the same thing. But this is not biblical Trinitarianism. It is closer to tri-theism. Sort of like tri-theism with a twist with Jesus being a human man with seven spirits for all of eternity. And Anderson moved to this heretical position from his previous position of Modalism. I think it is clear that the New IFB does not believe in, nor teach, nor preach the God of Scripture, nor the Jesus of Scripture. Therefore, I am not surprised that Mr. McMurtry seems incapable of understanding the very biblical doctrines of grace. He does, however, demonstrate the truthfulness of 1 Corinthians 2:14.
