Do I REGRET Switching from Spotify to Apple Music - Years Later!

I initially switched to Apple Music from Spotify a few years ago, after wanting to try out the other main option I saw people using (and also to see Faceless by Frank Ocean lol), but soon after trying it out, I found a lot of features that I really liked. Today I want to go over these, along with some areas I think Spotify does better, and discuss whether or not I regret switching from Spotify to Apple music all this time later!

I like Spotify because it’s easier to find smaller less known artists. Apple has some perks I like but Spotify is my favorite between the two.

I'm trying Apple Music on a 6 months trial. I've had Spotify and currently have YouTube Music. Visually Apple Music does look clean. Will continue trying it out but so far I think Spotify works best on all platforms (iOS, Android and smart TVs).

I have played with spotify, amazon and apple music for a few years now. Finally for the last 12 months I've stuck with apple music and I love it. I love the simple format, it's very clean. It works well on my android phone/ipad/ Google home pod. I never use music suggestions I like to make up my own playlists and it just works. I also like to keep my podcasts separate as I find it all to messy. They are both great, its just down to personal choice.

So glad to have another Apple Music gang! For me, I first switched to AM because of the student discount. Back then Spotify student discount was not available in my country yet. After six years of using AM, I can never go back. Our reasonings are pretty much the same. I love the album viewings.

Also, back then the Discover Weekly playlist was something I thrived on. I discovered Location by Khalid through that— back when it was not famous yet and I was so proud. But after I discovered I can find alike songs by using the “create station” option, the song recs I get from AM has been impressive.

Apple music has lossless audio but i usually use bluetooth headphones so it doesnt matter

I’m on YouTube music. I think the price and the inclusion of youtube premium trumps everything else.

Sure there are arguments for/against selection, interface, algorithms, quality etc, but no ads with YouTube is an easy win for me.

I use Apple Music, and while the interface is great… I don’t see much benefit over Spotify since the only Apple device I use is my phone.

Sometimes the recommendations make me laugh, and rarely I’ll find an absolutely great song. But as it stands, Spotify might be better for me as a playlist user and someone not invested in the Apple ecosystem.

Actually, as a podcast listener myself, I prefer having podcasts separate from music🤷🏼‍♂️

Before, I'm actually subscribed to 3 music streaming platforms (Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music). But now, I only use Apple Music and YouTube Music. I agree with the points you've shared with us, especially the cross platform. The syncing between Apple devices is just a huge selling point for me as I used multiple Apple devices. And it's a native app in iOS so you don't have to worry about installing another app for your music. I also use YouTube Music because first, it comes with the YouTube Premium benefits, and second, if there are any songs that I like that is not available in Apple Music, I'm 98% sure it's available in YouTube Music.

spotify has way better music discovery (apple music had about 0 when I used it, maybe it's better now tho) so that's why I like it, although apple music is way cleaner

I use both actually. Although AM has better audio quality, I still use spotify more because all of my playlists in the past are there and sometimes there are songs in spotify where i couldnt search for in AM.

No. Apple music sounds ways better and has better music genres section.

For me the switch lasted a full 10 minutes after migrating... I couldn't believe this when googling how to turn on handoff for Music (seamless switching between devices)

Why would anyone want podcasts on the same app they listen to music? It’s just unnecessary clutter and very intrusive, and in fact, the reason I hate Spotify even when I love their music recommendations

Awesome video! I have used both Spotify and Apple Music as well and honestly I'd say for the more social person Spotify is a better choice because of the amount of shareable elements and its easy group session / cast on other devices features. As an Android and Windows user I'd say that it also has better cross-platform support. I actually currently use Tidal, which used to be pretty clunky but has managed to improve in the past few years. The subscription I have offers hi-fi sound that's equal to CD quality and will give a fraction (I think 10%) of my subscription fee to my most listened artist each month! I recommend giving it a try

Lossless audio only works if you have headphones that connect to it “via wire” not bluetooth like all the air pods so we don’t get anything
