The best oil to put in your car is used oil from a genuine 1994 Celica. It's basically an immortality serum for even the biggest of money pits.

I had a 2004 grand Cherokee
That was the last year it came with the 4.0.
Those were actually great as long as you maintain them. They’re also stupid easy to work on. You could easily get 300k miles out of one.

I’ve used Mobil1 in all my daily drivers, race car and tow vehicles (Jeeps). Have never had an oil-related problem. Swear by it.

Pennzoil ultra platinum is the best oil next to Amsoil that doesn’t cost as much.

Several years ago, I bought some Quaker State Ultimate Durability Synthetic 5w30 on sale, cheap, for an older conventional push rod V6 with over 100k miles. Wow, what a huge difference it made in quieting that V6 down in cold weather starts compared to conventional motor oil. Now I'm a believer in synthetic motor oil, that's all I will use.

I have a 2009 Infiniti G37 and I cleaned the dual throttle bodies on it and when I was done it also had a high idle. Figured out there is an idle relearn process that can be done without any scan tools. It worked and now the car idles normally

I wonder why Scotty calls Excursions "money-pits" with high mileage examples when they're basically Ford F250s. The 7.3 with 300k if maintained would still go strong; he said himself he doesn't work on diesels.

I've had a TD4 freelander automatic, 179000 miles, had it since 60000, I do 4000 mile mile round trips with it. Always serviced, no problems at all, higher mileage cars if looked after are ok..

@3:35 I use to have a Buick Grand National, one of the best cars I ever had, sold it for more than what I got it for & used it for many years. Car had balls & good looks

My first simple pocket calculator from Texas Instruments was $79. My first microwave "Radarange" from Amana was $500. My first VCR was $1000.

NISSAN XTERRA idle relearn procedure actually exists, there is a sequence of pressing the accelerator and then the computer relearns the throttle position. Search for it online in NISSAN Manuals. I had an issue where my rpm would come below 1600 after the battery was disconnected. This procedure fixed it.

We just got our first Tesla refilling station in our hometown, we supposedly have 8 Teslas here, so obviously they are intended for those on the interstate passing our town.
People also think they are getting a cheap clean power source because it's just plugging in, but they really don't understand that the power has to be generated someplace, somehow, and a lot of the generation is done in coal fired power plants. So they are only fooling themselves into thinking they're saving the planet, if you think coal is destroying the planet that is. I don't. Our state has been at the forefront of clean coal technology since back in the late 80's to early 90's. The coal powered plants in cooperation with the state developed some of the first clean coal and carbon capturing technology before most other developments even started. We were into it before it was a thing.
I agree, in time, the technology will improve and either quicker methods of recharge or easily replaceable battery packs (just throw in a freshly recharged pack when your's is empty), or some other technology will develop. Who knows what the future will bring us.

Good advice, don’t buy an old beater unless you want an old beater, but don’t expect it to perform like a new car.

Here's one for ya Scotty... I got a 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv with 67K miles, owned it since new. Last few thousand miles i've been having issues with the power steering just stopping occasionally when I start turning it. Feels like i've gone full lock but I haven't. It only happens when at very low speeds, like turning left after waiting to yield or reversing out of a parking spot. There have never been any warning lights or anything on the dash.

I first tried a new battery a couple thousand miles ago because I was getting an occasional CEL and clunk when going into reverse, had a code saying transmission control module voltage low or something to that effect. The battery was over three years and having some low 12V readings so I just replaced it. That seemed to help the PS issue for a bit then the problem came back. So I changed the serpentine belt, and again that seemed to help for a bit then the problem came back. The battery and alternator test good from various auto parts shops.

I even had the PCM firmware update done by Mazda per one of their TSBs to stop the pulsing brake lights due to insufficient alternator current while slowing, but that didn't help my PS issue.

This Skyactiv system does weird stuff! What the heck is going on with my power steering? I'm lazy and have one of those quick lube places change the engine oil about every 5K miles. Could having one of those quick lube shops topping off the PS fluid with their cheap crap be causing this? Should I flush the system and put in Mazda fluid? Or do you think the electric pump is going out?

Thanks Scotty and stay safe!
