I'm still waiting to find a Scotty video where he actually talks about the stuff he posted in the headline 😐

Funny story. Watching a Scotty video a few weeks or so ago and the question of a rather new car came up saying the dealership wanted to change the brake fluid already. I laughed at the gall of the dealership trying to get money for an unneeded service. Now here's my story. This Saturday, my GF brings her 2020 Civic into the dealership for an oil change. They do it for free as part of the agreement to buy. I followed her in my car and in the time it took me to park outside and walk into the service area, they were already trying to charge her to replace the brake fluid because it was dirty she rattled off some B code. The car has 11000 miles on it. $110.00 they were trying to charge. I walked in and my GF told me what they were trying to do. I looked at the now nervous service lady and said "Really?" She started again how the car was showing that code. I retorted with that it was the pre-programmed service required light and for her to show me this code. She didn't even try but still insisted that the brake fluid was dirty and needed to be cleaned. So we popped the hood, I got my flashlight out that I EDC, popped the top of the reservoir and shined light on the cleanest brake fluid there is in a car. At this time I asked her if she wanted to try another one or just do the oil change like we asked in the first place. She backpedaled quick and didn't even try to upsell us wiper blades. I'm a nice guy, but it pisses me off too when dealerships try to prey on others. Hall Honda of Elizabeth City, NC...bite me.

I always watch Scotty on 1.5 playback speed! It's like Scotty on Red Bull and espresso directing an orchestra playing Eye of the Tiger.

Where did he talk about the oil you don't buy if it says this?

Change your oil based on temperature if you live in an area with drastic changes for winter and summer. Oil thickness matters a lot

Hey Scotty, I’m a long time Aussie fan who drives a 2006 Mazda 3 SP23, with a 2.3 litre engine and five speed manual transmission. I’m only the second owner and the one before me was a really anal mechanic, so it was very well looked after. I have kept up with the services religiously and the car has now has 378 thousand kilometres (nearly 235k miles) on the odometer) it runs just as well as it ever has since I bought it and the only repairs I have had to make are a new clutch and new front suspension struts. I reckong Mazdas make damn good cars and I have no desire to ever own anything European, because they cost WAY too much to fix and maintain. Love your channel mate!

ScottyKilmer - Your wisdom over the decades has fully matured and is now right on target!

I recall back in 1971, watching your 1st video review on the brand new imported 1972 Toyota 4x4 FJ via 8mm home video tapes. Scotty claimed the 72' FJ was a cheap tin can and would never compete with the reliability & performance of the NEW Jeep CJ Renegade and definitely not against the FORD BRONCO! Scotty predicted cheap Toyota's would never survive the American Auto Market past 1975! Boy, was he wrong! I still see those old FJ' running around! Any JEEP CJ's? Nope!

But, my grandpa (WW2 vet) agreed with Scotty, the young mechanic in 71'! He didn't want those foreign Japanese cars nowhere near the land of 'MERICA', land of the free & brave!

Well, 50 years later, that's all I own! My family owns nothing but Toyotar's. We currently drive a 2005 Avalon and a 2007 FJ Cruiser. We've owned a Camry, Tacoma & Tundra. Most reliable vehicles ever! RIP - Chevy, Ford, and Dodge! POS's!

Also, don't miss his video from the seventies, regarding the everlasting 8-Track tape player. You can't always be right about everything! But Scotty has come a long way since then!

Scotty I have a neighbor, young couple with two kids and a dog. They bought a 2018 Silverado that had 40 plus thousand miles on it. Nice looking truck and it’s for the wife and mom to have something dependable and it wasn’t cheap but there is something wrong with the transmission and they keep taking it back and they say there is nothing wrong with it. They only have till October for the warranty, that’s 3 months from now. Her husband is not a mechanic by trade but knows enough to work on his own truck and he is pretty handy at most things. When the truck is going up hill the truck acts crazy like it’s going in and out of gear making noise and not acting right. How do you get a Chevy dealership to honor their warranty. October is going to come and go soon. They want to trade it in but now they’re saying it’s not worth near what they paid. They only had the truck for about a year maybe a little longer. Thanks my friend. Been a fan of you for ever. My wife who passed away dec. of 21 is the one that told me about your channel. She bought her 2013 Lexus because of you. And I have to say I’m driving it now and was going to sell it but I decided to keep it. Really is a good car. Thanks again. Peace from pennsyltucky. ✌️👍🇺🇸

My mother still has a 1999 Toyota Sienna, and it's a great car that still has its original motor and transmission with 290, 000 miles. Runs like a champ.

Scotty I couldn't agree with you more about BMW's. You as usual are spot on. My X wife wanted a BMW X3. Im a diagnostic tech for 45 years now and owned my own shop for the past 17 years. I told my X if she buys a BMX I will never work on it. We bought a Lexus RX350. A great car. Everything you say about BMW trash is 100% spot on.

Oil isn't the only issue, it's better to wait 10 to 180 seconds for the engine to go from open-loop combustion to closed-loop combustion. During open-loop the fuel/air ratio may be far from ideal depending on fuel quality, age of engine, etc., often very rich and trying to drive on rich combustion can lead to oil contamination. The engine will run best when in closed-loop, meaning no stalling, hesitation, etc.
