FINALLY someone said it. I'm tired of people trying to tell other people that their relationship is "toxic" because they seem dependent on their partner when in fact them and their partner are perfectly happy together and WANT to be always with each other because it simply brings them joy.

Wow! This a healthier and clearer way to look at codependency. I think my awareness of how I manipulate and give my power away in destructive ways has increased....thank you, Teal!

This one of her best videos imo... what's dysfunctional for some might be exactly what others need at that time so functional for them

I've become aware of how many people relate in a co-dependent way - myself included. Usually we have some parts in our life where we struggle more with co-dependency. There more I understand what it is, the more I become aware of it and am able to slowly change it. It's empowering to get your needs met in a direct way - and it's so liberating!

Wow oh wow!! It's very subjective from moment to moment from situation to situation. Thank you for helping me see there is no pat definition. You're the best.

So basically, there's nothing wrong with co dependency. it's our way of being by default (whichever way 'default' applies to your unique experience). It is when codependency damages our well-being, becomes toxic and it is up to us to be aware enough to notice it as toxic. We remove it bc it does not contribute to our well being (we will acknowledge it when it no longer serves us for the next level of our life)

Yes!!! What a wise, wise, woman you are. This is a huge shift in perspective for me. I've been diving quite deeply into learning more about narcissism and co dependency. This is the missing piece of the puzzle, it speaks to some very deep personal beliefs about independence and "neediness"

Love this and so true.nI hung on the idea that I was co dependant on my husband and pushed him away for years. When I finally let that thought go and dissolved it our relationship has healed. We are both happy and I am better.able to give him what he needs. Thank You

No in the "eastern world" we're raised with an unhealthy addiction to dependence, domination and being dominated. I hate the idea that the eastern philosophical values are the optimal paradigm. The eastern paradigm is just as flawed as the western paradigm.

I want to thank you (as many other people) for teaching me awareness. Also, that we are all here to learn and therefore really nothing to be afraid of.

Wow thank you Teal! I have a sister who rudely projects her view of how I "should" be living my life, and I tried to explain to her this concept of her projecting what works for her, but honestly I couldn't articulate it as smoothly as you have. Now I have the words to convey what I was trying to say.

Thank you for this, Teal.

I think especially in relationships in the west wherein love, innocent love especially, is looked upon as weakness and the term co-dependancy is often used a dog-whistle to shame feminine energy [it is a label used mostly to shame women. Not many masculine are casually called co-D ] even though all genders are equally raised in families that have toxic love role modeling.

What a fantastic video from Teal Swan. Teal totally nails it here...explaining the dysfunction of relationships, regarding when one's behavior is detrimental to another...not necessarily having to do with dependence in general, but the dysfunction that is created in the dependent interaction....Symbiosis is ideal....when two people can depend on one another that is beneficial to both...What a gift Teal is to explain this to the world...and to heal each one of us, that struggles with this, regarding so much confusion in our society, regarding relationships in general.

Attachment theory and transactional analysis. But with your own spiritual level style.
Love this, thank you Teal.

So helpful to make this distinction between dependence and destructiveness - destructiveness being the only criterion for defining codependence.
