TRY MY NEW WARM UP EXERCISE! | Overall Technique Builder

PRACTICE TIP BELOW:

If you get tired of practicing "boring" exercises, try to come up with exercises that are as musical as possible. Ones that sound good to listen to! This will make your practice time much more enjoyable and can even turn into a song idea!

This is an exercise I came up with this morning that I thought I'd share with you guys because not only does it work on synchronizing both hands as an overall technique builder, but I think it sounds really nice!
I'm using a variety of nice sounding arpeggios that can be challenging to pick correctly while moving across strings. And it also makes the left hand work with big stretches and lots of movement with all four fingers.

Try using this as a warm up exercise or technique builder each day. Start slow and aim for consistency where all the notes are the same speed. And if you find it helps or you notice progress, let me know in the comments!

I’m so happy that I chose at 42 to try my hand at playing a stringed instrument. I grew up poor, I used to beat on an Air Jordan shoebox to Metallica - ...And Justice for All with a pair of mismatched drumsticks my first girlfriend gave me . ( Thanks Kathy Sanford.) Guitar is a different high than drums for me. I play drums. I also now dabble in guitar. With the guitar I feel you have perhaps a better medium to say what you feel and aren’t comfortable singing or writing down or what have you. BOTH ARE TRULY AWESOME. SO BIG THANKS to Jamie Robinson for being such an inspiration to me and helping keep the dream alive. 🙏🏻

Not only an excellent warm up exercise (some finger stretching in there too), but also a lovely rhythm piece.

This! This is what I've been looking for! I've been having so much trouble writing lately because I never learned any scales years ago when I started playing, and learning scales now is much harder because of that. This will actually help me a whole lot with the way I have to learn things! Thank you brother!!

Love how that guitar looks like a children's guitar to anyone who is not a guitarist, but as soon as you see those six letters on the head you know it definitely isn't lol
