Hi guys, this is Max Tapper again for Howcast. And what we're gonna go through today is how to do a pushup. The reason we have to do this, is 'cause many people do it wrong. So, let me show you how it looks. What I'll do first is show you the common mistakes that people do and one is gonna be sinking their back into the floor. All right? So a lot of people will let allow themselves to sink down in their push-up and end up here. All right? That's not right. We need your body to be straight like a plank. OK, so legs straight out, body level. We're going to bring our chest down to the floor. And up. Slow and controlled, and up. At no position is my body ever going to sink, OK? So, this is the way to do a proper push-up. Now, if you don't haven't enough upper body strength to do that with your legs straight, you can put your knees down. And that'll look like this. OK? Now, that altered type of push-up is an awesome way for you to build up strength to then do the straight out push-up. There's many different applications to throw push-ups in. You can be on vacation and get a good workout, you could be in the gym and get a good workout. No matter what, you have to do it correctly and make sure you don't injure yourself. All right guys? I sometimes enjoy doing push-ups at home. However, after watching this video, I realized that I have been doing them with incorrect form. It's a really helpful video

Thank for doing it right away, straight to the point, some other videos on YouTube tend to go around the subject with a lot of other stuff before actually show the main purpose of the video.

I have muscles 💪, I got to the gym and love weight training, or do weights at home, and have a pretty physical job (I'm a busgirl in bar and lift 24 packs of beer a lot in a 10-hour shift) so all that keeps me fit, but push-ups have always been a challenge for me. I remember once in my early 20's to be able to do 10 push-ups, but never really tried after that, and now I'm 40 and still have to do them on my knees... I do about 20 reps daily on my knees, to build strength, but when I try real push-ups I can barely do 5, and seem to be stuck there.

At first, it's really hard to do it. But as the time goes by and you're doing it continously, you will get used to it.

I can do 200 of these push-ups without any break, but I can only do 50 of the ones were you have the hands further down your chest and elbows tucked in. So which one is more efficient?

You were close the only problem is that you need to tuck your elbow back into your sides parallel to your body instead of flaring them out perpendicular to your body.
