I just learned how to do a pushup after about a year of doing half pushups and I can't be more proud of myself.

It is so much easier when you are of normal weight. I appreciate all of you who are trying to gain or lose weight out there :)

Push-ups are one of my favourite exercises ever. There’s just something so satisfying(at least to me) about being able to go all the way down and come back up smoothly. I do them everyday. A total of 50 push-ups but spilt into sets. The maximum that I can do in one go without stopping is usually 15 but 20 on a good day. Being consistent with this, you will really start to see your body change. I don’t do any other forms of strengthening exercises just push-ups and my cardio daily and I’ve started to see my back, my abs, my chest and obviously my arms become so much more defined. It’s amazing.

I’m 65, and a woman with a history of working as a tradeswoman. While stronger than most non-athletic women my age, I started trying push ups last week and was gob-smacked at the fact that I could NOT do even ONE! Thanks for the perspective and practical suggestions.

it’s so comforting to see other people also finding help in such an in depth video like this becuase i was so embarrassed for needing such extensive help on his it feels like everyone is just born with the innate ability to do a push-up :”)

I could finally do a push up!! For those who are demotivated, I just wanna say that progress takes time, and it took me over a YEAR to get a single push up done nicely..And to do a push has been my goal for such a long time so I'm just overwhelmed with gratitude! It might not be a great feat for some but it sure was for me.. So I just wanna say that don't ever feel demotivated or down YOU WILL GET THERE EVEN IF IT TAKE SOME TIME!!

Thank you much for saying how long it took you to do a push-up. It gives me hope. I used to be able to do them in the military and then depression kicked in and I gained almost 100lbs and am so out of shape

OMG! Yes, I've been asking for video like this for forever. Being able to do push ups (and pull ups) have been my fitness goal for a long time. Thank you for this!

I'm pretty new to the whole working out thing. I thought push ups were supposed to be really basic, easy stuff since my PE teacher in elementary school tried to get me to do them. I couldn't do it then, and I still can't do them now. My arms shake just holding myself up in position, let alone moving without landing on my face. It's great to hear that push ups are something to build up to, rather than something I should feel bad for not being able to do off the bat.

I'm finally going to do a push up! I swear on my honor!! But maybe in a few months or so...

I have been trying to get this done for 6 months (attempting them twice a week). I started on an incline. I can do 5 now but just realized what my coach meant when he told me to try eccentric push-ups as well. I relate to each word in this video. The struggle, the progress, the mistakes. I'm determined to get more strength and get my form right rather than counting my progress in sets and numbers. Thank you Lucy.

I love how much you stress slow progress and that sometimes you need to take breaks and then get back into a routine. Your down-to-earth perspective on life has made yours the only fitness I've ever wanted to follow. Most of the time I find a way to use the videos to shame myself, but yours are so uplifting and encouraging that I find it hard to be in a negative head space by the end. Keep being you!

I lose motivation because I cant do a single pull up, but then again, there are also people who struggles with push up which is an easy thing for me to do. Everyone has weaknesses

Update: after a month of struggle I can finally be proud to say that I can do 3 max pullups.

Thank you 😊
I can lower down to the floor in full push up position with elbows at the correct angle but I just can't get back up.

I still have to get over the reality that not every one except myself is able to do a push up. I always thought I was just very bad in sports or weak or lazy. So many fitness tips, workout routines or instructors on YT incorporate pushups and it's super frustrating when you are following a workout, getting by just well and suddenly you need to do pushups and fail terribly. Thanks for talking about the reality of it. That it is quite common for not being able to do them right away and that it will take some training. My goal for this year is to finally do one correct one! I gladly will incorporate some of your tips in my workouts. Thank you!!

A few years ago, I could only manage a quarter of a push-up and I was astonished. However, after three years of consistent and strenuous effort, including sweating and hard work, I am thrilled to say that I can now perform a full push-up. It's truly incredible!
