This is a very common mistake that I see all the time during strict curls, cheat curls, and even dumbbell curls. When you drift your elbows forward or lift the bar too high, your forearms point completely vertical at the top which causes the bar to rest directly above your elbows. As a result, the tension is no longer on your biceps and the weight just rests at the top.

To fix this, focus on lifting the bar up to your chest, and keeping your elbows fixed throughout the move.

This is totally incorrect, you get a better contraction lifting the elbow as the biceps assist in shoulder elevation.

Resting arms at the top does not hinder your gains, if you do them to failure you still get the desired response hence why i think his tip is useless.

Totally wrong advice, don't listen to it. When you at the top of the curl you lift elbows little forward intentionally to fully contract the biceps, this guy is telling you to do half reps lmao.

Actually because the biceps also assists in anterior shoulder flexion because of its insertion driving your elbows slightly forward will give it a better peak contraction. The idea is to consciously flex your shoulder a bit at the end of the movement and not let the barbell drop at the top which would then result in a resting position

I thought bringing the biceps forward was part of what the biceps do? Isn't it the same thing with any muscle? Training for mass you progressively overload, but with strength you go through full rom. Like a squat. You don't keep the knees slightly bent unless you want to go for high light reps, but for low heavy reps, you lock out the top.. like a curl.

The biceps aid in “shoulder flexion” meaning your not working your muscles any less by allowing your elbows to come forward. He’s not wrong by saying that this takes a very SMALL amount of pressure off of your biceps, but incorporating shoulder flexion into your curls is honestly the way to go.

Part of the biceps function is actually this forward elbow movement. It doesn’t just bend the elbow.

Biceps also assist in shoulder Flexion. So when you curl bring the bar all the way up. Also use a straight bar because biceps also supinate the forearm. Full elbow Flexion, full supination, and shoulder Flexion. That’s a real curl.

Don't listen to this guy, no offense but he don't know what he is talking about.Shoulder Flexion is one of the biceps functions, if you keep yourself flexed all the time during the movement you will have constant tension throughout the movement.
