CrowdStrike are saying that Microsoft security isn't reliable and this issue shows that CrowdStrike security isn't reliable.

There is no way out of this for Crowdstrike, they will go bankrupt with lawsuits going on for years and years to come.

Well, now we'll see how many admins actually bothered to keep the Bitlocker key.

Microsoft was like - "few... finally not us DIRECTLY responsible... at least for a day the lime lights will be on Crowdstrike, not our shitty behavior toward customers"

This is why I have disabled automatic updates on my Windows PC's. No one tests things any longer and this is the result. I will update when I want, not when Microsoft thinks it's best!

I'm an old fart who knows just enough tech that I can REALLY screw up MY computer, and I was wondering; why, (if you're a big, important industry, like an airline/s), why wouldn't you have, like, a "dummy" system that gets the updates first and emulates the main system, so you can save the day, instead of pooping your pants. Sorry about the 'run on' sentence. That's just how it comes out, sometimes.

While I personally would not recommend crowdstrike to anyone (after having experienced massive issues with it in the past), it must be said, that while the root-cause of the problem was crowdstrikes faulty sw-update, the massive outages worldwide are also the responsibility of the IT-departments of the large companies that experience these outages. Many years ago, those comanies would not take an update and install it on all their systems directly. Rather than that, this update would have been tested on a number of systems that are representative to the installed base (in that company) before this update could be copied into the companies own update servers.
With that, this faulty update had bricked some testsystems and had then never seen the companies update servers and had never been installed on any important productive system. But, 'cut-down-cost-is-king' ... most companies do not do it the oldfashioned way anymore.
At least, for all companies that have experienced outages now, you really can tell, how careless they are.

This is why we need to have offline systems to atleast still be able to do something just in case. It may be less efficient but it's better than grinding to a halt and losing millions an hour.

Should only effect business users who use this security software and not home users but quick response. I had a feeling this was going to be a video you would do today

Looks like Liz Truss' first day at her new job at Microsoft did now go too well.

Thank you so much, Britec. Here in North Carolina in the US, there's been all kinds of disruptions from airlines to hospitals. These companies should be held accountable for causing such chaos around the world.

The troubles is Microsoft fired so many people at testing dept and they push updates to our computers and test them on our machines through telemetry. That's how they got to save money.
