No one ever talks about how hard it is to lose your most supportive parent while you still have one left but they ignore their own battles within themselves so they also ignore you too

I know Devi can be so crazy sometimes but the trauma that she has experienced is so immense I kinda don’t blame her..

"I wish you were the one that died that night"
That line hit deep. Devi a savage

The worst part is the mom didn't even care that Devi felt that way. She didn't try to deny it or offer any reassurance at all.

The fact that she said "That's not fair" rather than "That's not true" says alot

The fact that she said “that’s not fair” instead of “that’s not true” about Devi hit hard🥶😭

Devi's Mom is the adult. Devi is a child. She's a grown woman talking shit about her own kid and Devi is a teenager who lost her Dad and has a Mom who she knows said that she wasn't wanted.

Devi has every right to be the crazy person who hides everything and her mom doesent deserve her.

The words “I wish you were the one that died that night.” Is absolutely spectacular writing and takes a huge step in story telling

Completely on Devi’s side. I grew up being told how my birther prayed to have me. But then she abused and neglected me. Either by words or actions, children who feel unloved or unwanted are not obligated to tip toe around their parents feelings.

As someone who has a mother who has said horrible things to my face about me my entire life and has a father who is there for me beyond everything, thick and thin. If I lost my father and heard my mother say that, I'd 100% react like this too. That statement is an emotional reaction to the pain the mother caused her, and she wants to inflict the same pain.

Context: Devi's mom attempted to sell her father's bike which he was really attached to. When Devi tried to convince her mother otherwise, she flatly ignored her feelings. This really hurt Devi. Whatever Devi said was an expression of all the rage that she had been consuming so far. From her mother comparing Devi with her cousin, her father's death, her leg injury, her issues with Ben and Paxton to her mom selling something that was so close to her father's memory. This is very natural among teenagers and I can totally empathize considering how many times i have said some really fucked up things to my mom and instantly regretted. Besides, I think Devi's mom was going wayy to far disciplining her. She was being inconsiderate and oblivious of Devi's feelings. Small things like these really affect a person especially when ur a teenager. Boundaries are requisite for a child's well being but not to an extent that life becomes too suffocating to live.
