Apple announced the new 2020 fourth-generation iPad Air in September, but the new tablets just started shipping out to customers last Friday. We picked one up and thought we'd do a hands-on comparison with the iPad Pro, which was last updated in March, because both tablets are about as powerful and share many similarities.

I went for the bigger screen of the pro. That was my selling point.

Update. I am so glad I sacrificed the money for the bigger screen, teaching has been amazing on the iPad. If you use something daily, I still say get the best. You won't regret it

A question: when using the pen and your finger hits the screen while writing using the pen, will it displays the finger interaction too? i had this problem on my laptop and it is irritating?

I’m going with the air over the pro for a few reasons. 1) all I’ll be using it for is note taking and being a second monitor, so the camera, speakers, and better processor don’t really affect me. 2) Apple Care is cheaper for the air than the pro. $69 covers the iPad and Apple Pencil vs $129 (student pricing) for the pro. 3) the air is $50 cheaper if you buy the 256GB version than the 128GB pro. All in all, it really depends on what you’re using it for. As a college student using it strictly for school, the air is perfect for me. Plus it’s pink! 🌸💕

Honestly i feel the iPad Air is expensive . With discounts you can get iPad Pro for 100 dollars more and you get double storage, better speakers, better display and Face ID . They are all worth it .

Looking to upgrade from an iPad Mini 4. Size is an issue. I want compact for easy carrying during travel and I really like the idea of the keyboard with a trackpad. I always use ear buds or noise canceling headphones so speakers aren’t important. However I’ve always struggled with TouchID reliability working fir me. Is the side-button implementation of TouchID better than the old Home button on the Mini’s and older iPhones?

Pro 12.9, 128gb, non cellular! It’s my new laptop replacement with Logitech keyboard folio .. I would like to see how arm Mac is going to behave with all different 3rd party softwares ! And battery 🔋 backups ..
If it does a good job, I wish to have a 16” MacBook Pro in late 2021 !

I’m a musician who would be using it for sheet music (with ForScore) and recording projects (either Auria or Logic Remote) and MIDI useage. Any tips would be helpful. Currently have a very old iPad that is getting kind of tired and can no longer be updated.

Very informative! Thanks. I’m interested in storing lots of sheet music for transport to recitals. In your opinion, is the Air large enough for sight reading? I’m sure the Pro is but looking to save some cash. Thanks!

I have an original 1st gen iPad Air. It still operates well but it’s slowing down a bit and only has 16 gigs. I viewed this video as well as a couple of others and I’m leaning toward the 256 gig iPad Air.

If I'm a student and I just want to make pretty notes on my iPad which one should I buy? Also I love photography but I don't think I'm gonna go and make photos with an iPad cause it's too big
