I bought the M1 11 inch for my wife since she wanted to use the pencil, but back in Nov she bought me the Air 4.

I’m satisfied with my Air because I don’t do too much intense activities on it, and suspect that it should be enough for most people. But we are in the M1 pro era, so comparing value for money, the M1 Pro rocks. But if you are doing only internet, Netflix, and YouTube the Air will save you some money.

Yes it’s worth the $200 more because not only are you getting a better chip you are also getting: 4 more gigs of ram, 120hz display, Face ID, much better camera, and a slightly sleeker looking device. I just think that extra $200 goes a long way, but the iPad Air is still an amazing device 👍

Edit: As pointed out below you also get double the base storage (128gb for the Pro and 64gb for the Air).

It's also worth noting that the Pro starts at 128GB. If you want a storage upgrade to 256GB on the Air, the Air becomes only $50 less than the Pro. If you need more storage than 64GB, the Pro seems like a no brainer to me.

Thanks for these tests! I had assumed the M1 was just a rebranded A14+ the usual tweaks and such that would have traditionally been called an “A14x” or what have you…obviously this is not the case as the performance difference is much greater than it would have been for an X or even Z!
