A big question a lot of potential recruits should think about is what are the living conditions like for a new single service member likely to be at the first duty station after training.

The reason why the marine corps is a lot different than most branches like the army is because the marines tend to go to go to battle first and last to leave. And the army mostly for tanks and a lot of vehicles, and works of a lot of divices.

The services should have just stuck with the simple PT test: push-ups, sit-ups, and run. It was quick, required no equipment, and could be done virtually anywhere.

This bid should be called the differences between JOINING the different branches. I thought I was going to learn as to what they do in terms combat and deployment.

For the german branches there is no weight limit. You simply have to pass the fitness test.

My irr ended 3 days ago so I'm happy about that, I was in the Marine Corps and the PFT is usually taken during the summer in the CFT is usually taken during the winter months I honestly hated the CFT because I had to fireman carry a marine during that and I don't exactly have the strongest back anymore, I went in at what most people would consider an old age. The PFT you can just blow right through, if you stay in shape. Now when I was getting out they were just introducing the push-ups in lieu of Pull-Ups for the PFT but you cannot get a perfect 300 doing push-ups, so I highly recommend you keep that in mind if you want to do push-ups instead of Pull-Ups, your PFT and CFT scores are really big on deciding whether you get promoted. My advice to those trying to go into the corps, don't get married, don't start smoking, and don't buy a car. This is from an NCO to his juniors and anyone who intends to join up, Trust me on that. Oh and also on that note don't try to fight your drill instructors you will lose, do as you're told, help your fellow recruits, don't be a cheerleader.

I was not in the US military. I had 9 weeks and 1 day BMT. Funny . Nowadays it’s 12 weeks.
But I had 3 different trainings afterwards for my MOS.
I was an Combat support soldier. Truck driver(6 weeks), support soldier(1 week), ammo transport license (1 week).

I was in the Air Force for 10 years, met some incredible friends and worked in some incredible places. If I had a nickle for every time I heard "I should have joined the Air Force" from my friends, retirees, and random ass people I met from other I would be a rich, rich man. Do what you want, but I will say the Air Force absolutely set me up for the life I lead outside of the service, more than I can put in to words compared to friends in other branches.
