As an American, the thing that really scares me is what a desperate man can do. In conventional warfare, we won’t lose to an alien attack let alone Russia but that doesn’t matter.
All these financial, infrastructure, military power gaps mean absolutely nothing if Putin in despair decides to send his personal nuclear arsenal flying without notice.

One other thing: a long war would not be fought with just existing personnel and weaponry. Capacity for production and logistics would become a big part of it. American industry may not be what it once was in terms of production (vs imports), but it is still formidable, vastly superior to Russia.

America is really strong, and they proved themselves multiple times. The sad thing about Russian soldiers is that the most of them don’t even know what they’re doing in Ukraine.

Russia is showing that they don’t have the economical or logistical power to face off against any major power at the moment. Tanks are no good without fuel

The Achilles heel for both Russia and China, is always going to be military readiness of everything from the soldiers themselves, to logistical support, equipment, etc. You can have the same tech as the US, more soldiers, etc. But as we are witnessing in Ukraine, if you do not have real life experience executing large military operations, everything falls apart.

The US military has been engaged in nearly constant global conflict since WW2.

In honesty: the U.S. is larger, more advanced, and more experienced in nearly every aspect.

I feel one important part in all this too is the U.S manufacturing, if we were to go into such a war, our numbers in machines would become colossal fairly quickly much like the us did in ww2

The US military will always be the mightiest ground force. Our military is the right amount of strict, physically fit, unified, and equipped. In any conventional war, the full force of our military could crush anything. In every conflict since WW2, our military has held back in some way.

This points out something worth talking about. The Russian population is aging and shrinking. On top of that the military is declining against the US. All those are reasons Putin feels he must attack now before Russia weakens further. That’s in addition to the economic reasons and geopolitical situations.
