The thing that helped me start utilizing my lats properly in pull-ups (and help me achieve muscle-ups) is having elbows in front, rather than out/to the side, and thinking about driving forward and down.

The cue of pulling with ur elbows is one suggested by Dorian Yates and helps to feel the lats working.

What really helped me with pull ups was getting comfortable with assisted pull ups first. Once I mastered those and understood what proper lat activation should feel like it eventually translated to actual pull ups

In relation to this, I'd highly recommend scapula pull-ups. Even doing 3 sets of 10 on a separate day to your pulling day can add significant strength gains to your pull-ups. For me, they've been much more beneficial than the 5-10 minutes per week that I spend doing them. The same goes for scapula push-ups, rows and face-pulls- little investments of time and effort but extensive dividends.

I've been struggling for the past 3 years to do a single clean pull up. But now i do it everyday every time so im not forget the struggle, hardwork and dedication that i've been through.

I always told people who asked me at the gym about pull-ups to pretend like they’re swinging open some saloon doors with purpose. Don’t think about pulling your body up. Think about pulling your hands down.

Nope, getting your brain to send the correct signals to your muscle IS HARD, NOBODY TALKS ABOUT IT AND YET IT'S AWFULLY DIFFICULT !

I find that a thicker grip or a thicker bar helps me engage my lats better on pull-ups
