I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed in 2009 and ended up getting dry socket on the two bottom extraction areas a few days later since I made the huge mistake of eating solid food once instead of following the liquid diet for a few days. You’re not lying when you mention that is very painful (it was actually unbearable) and also your mouth feels so nasty from the ugly taste you get from it. I was so glad on how quick the dental staff helped heal my dry socket. For anyone getting a tooth extraction soon, please follow the dentist’s advice when he/she tells you no solid foods for a few days after no matter how hungry you are or else you will suffer from the terrible dry socket like I did.

When I got my wisdom teeth taken out in 2018, the doctor told me to wait 6 days to eat solid foods again. Boy, was that a mistake as I started feeling the pain immediately after I started eating it. I got them in both of my bottom teeth. Speaking from experience, the feeling of a dry socket in your former wisdom teeth openings is the equivalent of a revolving drill bit constantly moving inside your jaws. Thankfully, the pain only lasted 4 days instead of weeks, and the surgeon didn't charge me any money for the patches when i know he could've, so I hold no resentment towards him.

I had a traumatic extraction. The tooth was broken and had to be taken out under the gum. Developed a dry socket instantly. Dentist didn't even treat it properly. I ended up having to use eugenol soaked cotton bits in the socket for a few days and then filling the hole with gauze until it begun to heal on it's own. Took well over a month.

Had this last year and got a crazy infection in my face. Worse experience of my life. Almost died. ER & all. I ate solid foods too soon & didn’t gargle/rinse as recommended thinking I’d be fine. Boy was I wrong.

After I got 1 of my tooth extracted I was noticing some pain coming from the area after only 2 days and may have an infection starting so I made a appointment right away which I got in the next day to have it treated instead of wait and see approach. I need to say the area is healed up already and doing good.

Before my tooth extraction, the doctor recommended taking mefenamic acid to lessen the pain. After the extraction, the area continued to bleed for 3-5 hours, but the bleeding stopped once a clot formed. After the anesthesia wore off, I didn’t feel any pain, and even a day later, I still didn’t experience any discomfort. The tooth that was extracted was my molar.

It was truly one of the most experiences I have ever been through.

I didn’t think that smoking would make that big of a deal. It did. Learning what I know now. If I never quit during the recovery process, it would have never healed. I had to go back because I was in excruciating pain. They cut a piece of paper and dipped it in something and shoved it into the hole. I stopped smoking and sure enough the pain was gone and with a couple of days of not smoking, it started healing.

Why don’t dentists use this gel after every wisdom tooth extraction?

I had a dry socket after my wisdom tooth were pulled. It was so painful, it was like someone constantly punching my mouth all day. They gave me something to put on top of it to numb the pain after a couple days.

I've had it before, the pain was so bad I needed to literally rock back and forth even after taking painkillers. Luckily I went back and got medicated dressing treatment 2:54 almost immediate pain relief and ease of the symptoms! Miraculous! Dry socket can start with 5/10 pain and move up to 8/10+ easy.

A word of advice if you use saltwater and just shake your head back n forth it actually helps keep the sockets clean

That was COOL! I'm sure the pain sucks for smokers, but that was cool to look at! 😂

I had dry socket after my wisdom teeth extraction, bottom right gum, and I could see my bone through the gums, it took me a couple days before I could get in to get it treated so I took a CRAP TON of painkillers to make the pain go away. I basically took enough painkillers to get actually high from them

I would be an advocate for a stitch in the gum for any wisdom tooth and muller toothe extraction. Keeps the clot in .
