The absolute scary part about infected wisdom teeth is that you don't necessarily have to feel it. I had my crooked wisdom teeth removed while not having any pain or issues (yet). The doctor found a huge infection going on along one of those teeth. Guys, make sure to go to your dental check-ups.

My dentist just asked if my wisdom teeth hurt, I said no, and he just left them in. The only problem I have with them is they're so far back they're hard to brush lol

It’s definitely a ticking time bomb! I was 18 when I went for a cleaning and the dentist recommended I get them out and I said no because I was scared… I’m 29 and July 5th I got all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth removed. One tooth was black and falling out, and the pain was literally out of this world because I had an infection. I will NEVER EVER miss another dentist appointment. Seriously if you’re reading this and have impacted wisdom teeth get them out asap!

My wisdom teeth were pulled when I was 14 because my mouth was too small. They were surgically removed. I don't think I swelled up or bruised, but they dislocated my jaw during surgery. It took over 3 weeks for everything to heal, but I had issues with my pain meds. I was extremely nauseated by my pain meds, and the surgeon wouldn't change them, but he prescribed a common anti-nausea medication call compazine. The compazine caused a dystonic reaction that sent me to the ER. They reversed the effect with benadryl. The doctor told us that I should never take any of the phenothiazines ever again. It was scary and very frustrating for my parents and me.

My wisdom teeth removal took over 7 months to fully recover. All seemed well post surgery until my face started to re-swell. Turns out it had gotten severely infected despite me cleaning it properly after every meal. But no big deal, the doctor sent me home with antibiotics and all seemed well. Long story short, it re-infected 9 other times. The oral surgeon was forced to reopen and drain my jaw essentially. To top it all off, all of the antibiotics I was being given completely destroyed my GI track to the point where I would frequently have vagus nerve episodes and pass out. Eventually, the infections and swelling stopped on its own, but to this day the surgeons had no idea what was causing my body to react so severely.

I got my wisdom teeth removed one week ago and it was definitely worth it! I had pretty impacted wisdom teeth but I made sure to do everything possible (like ice/heat, keeping my head elevated, etc.) and my recovery has been smooth. Trust me the time flies by and you’ll be back to normal in no time <3

Got all four of mine out; my bottoms were entirely horizontal and had to be cut out. Day three's swelling was BADDDD. But hey--no more lockjaw from when the teeth breached the gums! Well worth the removals.

I got all four out at the same time plus a bonus side tooth pull. The pain was horrific, horrible, deadly, 😂😂😂

My dentist said we'll just leave that back one in since it's under the gum. Well, I ended up with a massive cyst! It took a major surgery to remove it. Then my jaw broke in half a few days later. Another major surgery and a titanium plate from my ear to my chin.
They still want to do a bone graft to replace the section of my lower mandible that they removed. All of this because of a wisdom tooth! Make sure you get All of them removed! Unless you want a nasty scar across your neck like I have.

I know her pain, it took me 2 weeks to be no pain and the third week to be able to fully open my mouth again. Definitely the most rough weeks of my life.
