Improving muscle strength is a long term goal with a much slower results.
But a quick and easy way to improve your sprinting is to spend some time doing cadence exercises. This will also help with your ability to close gaps very quickly without using a lot of strength. Roll along in 42x17 gear at/around 90 rpms (you should be around 17mph or 28kmh) then without leaving your saddle max your rpms. Soft pedal back down to 90 rpms, recover and do it again. It is just a muscle memory exercise but adding it to your training will improve your leg speed.

The right pedals are important, some, like my speedplay light action, are not designed for sprinting and to do so could result in serious injury!

there is a gcn video on sprinting in which the gcn crew said some of the best sprinters are the bmx riders on flats? I wanted to know why? I am not understanding why riders on flats could be better sprinters then cyclists who are clipped in? (the video in question is currently on amazon video)

Global Cycling Network How about a video with breathing techniques during things like sprinting, climbing, cruising and so on?  Love all the tips so far and have some friends to show up the next ride.

Any chance there could be some tutorials for hand cyclists (I know you featured a hand cycle in a previous episode)?  I was discussing with some friends how the hill techniques could be transposed for want of a better word for us, as I couldn't figure it out, so a tutorial would be great.   I have a local 9% nemesis that needs to be thrashed ;)

can someone explain me why long socks? on sunny hot day? everything is practical and reasonable, except those socks. I see only reason for long socks just to place another logo and earn money for ad. But if you are not getting payed for that, why long socks? just to be part of "the group"?

#TorqueBack Does the bike have to move when your fully engaged in your Sprint ?? 🤔 I feel if you were to keep your bike still as possible you could gain more speed #TorqueBack

In my team I'm by far the fastest sprinter, but because of my track background, my sprint is very different to this. I start out of the saddle but upright, using my arms, shoulders and even pecs to start a pedal stroke, abs on the lifting and so on. Eventually I get into a road sprint. I'm not sure if this is a good way to sprint or not, because whilst I get amazing acceleration, my aerodynamics are a bit off. Should I try and practice a more aero road sprint, or keep to my current sprint?

I don't have the capability to sprint out of saddle for over 8~10 seconds. I always end up spinning the gears in saddle, is one superior to the other? Road sprints are almost always out of saddle, and track sprints are usually the other way so I can't really tell since my top speed is achieved at the end of 10 seconds. Work on extending that duration or speed?
