One of the quickest ways to improve running mechanics and get faster is wall drills. Proper body and hip position is absolutely essential for speed development and maximum velocity sprinting. Same goes for gourd contact.
In this lesson Olympic Sprint Coach Ken Harnden breaks down some wall drills and how to perform them to optimize your sprinting and running technique.

wow, just tried it. the slow one seems perfect for flat feeters, we have the weakest hip flexors.

I needed this. Started off season training Monday now my hip flexors are paining. A hot shower, light stretches and rest eased some of the pain compared to yesterday. Ima start doing these aswell and rest up till Monday

If i would had all this information available when i was in high school in the 80s, i definitely would have broken 10.6. I can't think of 1 drill. My coaches showed me to increase my speed or improve my technique.

Agreed, I work on this drill with my athletes during the entire season. Great front side mechanics drill..

The flick of the lower leg forward to bring a straight leg back seems to be a crucial element in the fastest races. Vebjorn Rojdal, makes the best point in a YouTube video video that landing on a straight leg keeps you from having to both lift your weight as well as driving it forward.

For the benefit of this being a great tool for runners and targeting hip flexors, just pointing out that the position he was in was not 45 degrees.
More like 60.
Don't want to sound picky, but pointing it out only because he mentioned not to be too low.
The purpose of the exercise I believe is for all the phases after coming out of the blocks. Which is why he said not to be too low.

Hello everyone, great drill but I think that angle is closer to 70 degrees than 45

Would this drill be implemented during the warm-up throughout the season? Or emphasized more pre-season and less during the competition phase?

Is foot dorsiflexed or planterflexed while sprinting

Sir, I can't be able to sprint in dorsiflexed foot. If i try heel strikes the ground. If i try to sprint on ball of foot, it automatically becomes planterflexion. What to do. Help me Sir.

45 degrees to floor? Dude. Go back to geometry class. That's more like 60 degrees. Great drill though.
