How long can throat damage from Acid Reflux become Cancerous? - Dr. Satish Babu

Acid reflux has been implemented as one of the common causes for our throat cancer but we can never predict how long for the acid to damage the inner lining so much that it can turn to cancerous situation. Even before that happens, acid reflux symptoms, that is throat is getting burned because of the acid reflux, that means there is a lot more happening inside. Before the throat is getting burned the food pipe, that is the esophagus, is also getting burned. So once that happens there is a lot of symptoms like chest tightness, throat tightness, inability to swallow comfortably. So obviously we would seek some medical help and most of the times when we do per gastrointestinal endoscopy, we would see changes in the lower end of the esophagus, which is in close proximity to the acid region, that is the stomach, we start seeing symptoms there. In rare scenarios there can be a throat affection, but we cannot square the blame only on acid reflux alone. If the throat is getting burned, it is advisable to seek medical help and make sure that that is controlled to prevent the cancerous situation. Prevention is better than cure.

I didn't think difficulty swallowing comfortably would even be a symptom but oddly I have noticed that more and more lately. In fact, I have had so much more times food getting caught in my throat so I feel like I am choking too! It's so scary when that happens! Didn't relate stuff like that to acid reflux! I'm gonna be talking to my doctor on Friday to possibly get treatment! I think it's also affecting my teeth enamel because it's gotten so bad! Didn't know stomach acid could do so much harm. Thank you, ive been having Reflux cause i dont want to stop coffe and another things that triggers my reflux, as im a singer knowing that reflu can lead to cancer is really dangerous to the vocal folds, much years before the cancer for sure the reflux will make genetic mutations on the vocal folds and will damage its quality just like high persentage of alcohol does, im not having reflux anymore coffe, soda, acid fruits, everything that triggers reflux is over now for me, and i will try buying sweet potato to make stomch valve stronger, i know it works, i already tested, even if has to be fixed to prevent reflux i will do it, sweet potato works as a mater of fact due to the same reason that is great to build muscles.

Hello sir! Please help me with a question, doctors in my place don't have knowledge. Can reflux create like non-cancerous tumors on larynx, like if the reflux pass a lot of times trough that place, it may create a layer of tissue to protect the larynx ? This case is very curious, I had a lot of imagistic researches but none showed cancer or something weird. But I feel like on both sides of the larynx , there is something moveable and kinda soft that I can pinch, when pinched really hard I feel pain. But as far as I know there shoudn't be anything like that there.. Also I have like possible lymp nodes inflammed, could this happen because of the reflux ? Thank you if you can reply, I would be very happy doc.
