The Centor criteria is a score to measure the likelihood of a patient being infected by bacteria when having a sore throat. A score of 3 means a 28 to 35% risk of infection, while a perfect score of 4 increases the risk to 52%.

I get sore throats all the time...But THIS. First time experiencing this at 23 years old and my gosh it is a living hell. Currently on day 7. The best thing you can do guys is buy numbing spray from your local pharmacy. Numbing spray and Ibuprofen. And you just have to wait it out. I have asthma too so night times are unbearable as I stop breathing as soon as I fall asleep and then wake up choking. I honestly would not wish this on my worst enemy. Good luck out there man, you'll need it

I went to urgent care and they told me it was a virus and I just needed to let it run it’s course. I had the worst sleep of my life 3 nights in a row. I was on the verge of tears and left for the ER at 2 in the morning. I have NEVER had a sore throat like that in my life

I don't know if its just me but I have a reaccuring case of throat infection, every 3 months or so. I definitely get a sore throat infection and it's absolutely terrible. Been dealing with this since a child.

I just had a cold that was basically only slight fatigue and a sore throat. The throat is healing and doesn’t hurt anymore (just gets clogged sometimes and I have to clear it) but suddenly my body wants to develop a cough + runny nose. Idk wtf I contracted but it’s working backwards

Sore throat will forever be the worst symptom. Your throat feels swollen, just swallowing saliva is agonizing, you drink 5 bottles of water just to try and relieve it. Don’t even get me started on the lump you feel when you swallow food. Then, it starts triggering your gag reflex and you either A. Feel like you’re gonna throw up with each swallow, or B. You end up throwing up. My larynx don’t deserve this kind of abuse ✊🏾😔

So, here’s the deal with my tonsil infection journey. I’m on day seven and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I’ve hit up two hospitals, gotten jabbed with injections twice, and I’m on a cocktail of paracetamol and antibiotics. This is hands-down the most painful thing I’ve ever been through, and it’s showing no signs of letting up. Imagine being in a war against a horde of tiny bacteria, and every single one of them is like mini Thor or Hulk, constantly pummeling you.And the symptoms? They’re like a moody girlfriend (sorry, ladies). One minute, you’re shivering like you’re in the Arctic, the next, you’re sweating buckets like you’re in a sauna. The pain is like a game of tag—it starts in your leg, then it’s in your back, then it’s in your head and neck, and it just keeps moving around until you’re completely disoriented. Honestly, your girlfriend’s mood swings are nothing compared to this.Even with three different antibiotics, these microscopic Thors and Hulks are still wreaking havoc. Nights are the worst—you’ll be having nightmares about your ex, sweating, parched, and unable to swallow even a drop of water unless you pop some more pills. Eating? Forget about it. It's a struggle.So, brace yourself for the worst. Load up on hot water, antibiotics, painkillers, cold meds, and throat spray. Stay strong and keep fighting. I’ll let you know how long it takes for this torture to end!
