I need 9-10 hours of sleep to wake up feeling rested. That is frowned upon and people keep insisting I should do fine on 7-8. Normalise getting enough sleep. 😭

I carry sleep debt. For example, I might pull an all nighter and then have to sleep for 16 hours the next day 🤦

I thought blue light was bad because it messes with your circadian rhythm

Blue light is often the light that's meant to keep us awake. When it's dark out and there's little blue light, our "internal clock" or the circadian rhythm wants to go to sleep. Blue light is often associated with the light of the sun and such, and so it keeps us awake if we use it before bed.

Melatonin pills are made to replicate the hormone with the same name. This hormone's secretion peaks at around 2 am at night and is stimulated when your eyes stop receiving light.
So yes it's a sleep hormone so it helps.

If I stay away from the phone all day I start to get sleepy, so I think blue light does have an effect. And melatonin does help somewhat.

Disagree with the 1st point . You actually explained in 2nd point that our body prefers to sleep at night and since blue light mimics the sunlight it is difficult fir us to sleep

Melatonin is the hormone which is responsible for maintaining the circadian rhythm. It gets activated is low light conditions. So yes melatonin can help in sleep.

Blue light, like the glow of the tv actually relaxes me, and I usually have the tv on just low enough that I can hear it just enough to focus on it, and it helps me turn off the random thoughts that go through my brain.
But that's just me personally.

Reason 6: you are consuming caffeine in the afternoon/evening

The blue light thing is because it interferes with your circadian rhythm. Whereas orange/yellow sunset colours help with sleep

Blue light does hurt your eyes more if you have light sensitivity though.

That’s why I hate the stupid blue lights they’re putting on highways now! I literally can’t drive past them without getting an immediate headache!!

Myth #7
Every is supposed to sleep at night.
No, some people are biological night owls and get the best sleep when there's light outside vs when society has deemed it acceptable to sleep

My circadian rhythm is completely fucked and my sleep schedule keeps trying to reverse itself so I sleep during the day and wake at night
