He served as Clinical Instructor to Laboratory students, medical students, Pathology residents and a valued resource to the Clinical Pharmacists, hospital epidemiologist and Infectious Disease Clinicians. He then went to work at Redlands Community Hospital from 2005 to 2020, and retired on April 15, 2020 dur ing the pandemic. Terence Tay has worked as a Clinical Microbiologist for more than 40 years. Terence Tay was awarded 2019 Distinguished Alumnus from Loma Linda University School of Allied Health Professions.
Currently he is serving the communities in California, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines sharing the health message through Healthyroad Lifestyle Ministry.
That special day in August 16, 2016 will always be remembered by Mr. Tay when he collapsed in the Loma Linda Hills, was rushed to the emergency room and barely survived an acute heart attack. The placement of that stent created the open door for bringing about understanding of his disease and eventually leading him to recovery. Discovering in a unique way the claims that God had on his life, he yielded not only his appetite but he also yielded his life to ministry and service.
Over the next 10 months, he literally devoured dozens of some of the best health and nutrition books. At the same time, with his newly discovered whole food plant-based dietary program, Mr. Tay left behind all animal products and refined foods, while cutting back on sugars, salt and fats. And with that he also left behind his excess weight of 75 lbs. "I became transformed from Whale to a sardine," he said. With that he found a new level of energy and a special joy to share his insights and recovery from heart disease and obesity in public and church-settings.
His presentations have been so well received that invitations for his speaking appointments have come to him not only from Loma Linda and Southern California but also from Northern California, and even from Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Many churches are now reaching out to him inviting him to take multiple speaking appointments to inspire and to let the Health Message and the Spirit from above transform his audiences.
Serving the Chinese Church in Loma Linda as an Elder, and being now in full recovery from his heart disease, Mr Tay at last has his heart and his food in the right place... totally devoted to service while having found the power of a simple diet consisting of plenty of Fruits and Vegetables, of Whole grains and Legumes, and some nuts and seeds.
