I just took mine in 2021, and the strange level of difference in difficulty was staggering to me. Some questions were so easy I was left questioning if I misread them, while others left me wanting to claw my eyes out because I quite literally thought I was reading a different language. It felt like getting whiplash.

The worst thing about the SAT is how it convinced everyone that it's importance will dictate your entire future.

Also, if you fail the SAT, it is basically a way of telling you your whole schooling up to now is a failure.

Perhaps the worst of them all: it's literally just a number that says how good you are at taking the SAT and says nothing in terms of intelligence at all. I'm glad a lot of schools this year make it optional LOL

The second reason is completely true. I spent weeks studying for the SAT and I was so ready but I forgot about the bubble sheets and I had only gotten 30 of my answers bubbled in for the reading section, because I had spent so much time on getting all the answers correct (which I'm sure they are). So I went back during the writing section and kept bubbling my answers, which was one of the most stressful and complicated things I've ever done in my life. Not only was I completely distracted during the writing section, I'm also sure that I bubbled some of the reading questions out of order. This SAT literally decided the future of my life, because I'm an international student and I only had one shot at convincing my parents to let me go to America.

The stuff you mentioned about superscoring as well as the cost of SAT prep are the reasons why SAT scores are just a marker of wealth. Average scores for students go up with family income.

Ugh, standardized testing in general is flawed. Like, you can't expect everyone to follow the same "standard" amount of smartness

I got so pissed off when there wasn’t enough time to finish the test and they told us to just guess on the remaining questions and fill all the bubbles so there are no blanks but I refused to start guessing so I left them blank. It’s messed up that they would rather you guess and hope to be lucky rather than actually asses your skill. I legit hate the SAT and ACT and standardized tests in general. I have been an “A” and “B” student all my life, including throughout college and yet the tests suggested otherwise; they are so full of shit it’s unreal

Also when your test center cancels, it's on the student to re-register and pay $52 to still be able to take the test at a different location, even if you had a fee waiver and aren't supposed to be paying for the test at all.
