It's too easy when u see 32 and 8 are powers of two.

Maths is when I'm not the one solving it

If this is the hardest SAT problem then I’m about to move to America

you can also plug in any number combo that solves the equation

e.g. if x=0 then y=1 plug and chug

I wish my math teacher told me math is actually memorizing gimicks to get the answer. Would have made life a lot easier.

After seeing a few of these, knowing what they are about, not even close to being hard especially if you don't need to show work, one can even guess. So thanks! These videos really help. 🙏👍

What if you just use substitution?
Assuming that x = 0 and y = 1:

5(0) + 3(1) = 3
Equation is true.

32^(0) * 8^(1)
1 * 8
8

As a 7th grader o started with the 1st equation and found that if x were 0 and y were 1 the equation would be true. I took this to 32 * 0 + 8 * 1 = 8

It's the grade 7 problem — properties of powers

It may be considered the hardest problem on the SAT, but you made it look easy.

Yall i just looked at it and thought x= 0 and y=1 — therefore the answer is B

I solved this in my head in like 15 seconds… i am taking the SAT-for the first time soon and i have found much harder questions while studying

I did this by plugging in small numbers in the first equation. If you set x=0 and y=1 it's trivially easy to see that the first equation holds true and then by using these numbers in the second equation, since anything to the power of 0 is 1 and anything to the power of 1 is itself, it's just saying 1x8 which is 8.

Ok this was the hardest and if u r true then i am gonna crack SAT right now btw good tips for beginners

I mentally solved it within 15 seconds . I must be a super human . Reality : you know powers of 2 and basic rules of exponents. This is far from the hardest it's easy .

Me: oh wait I think 0+3=3 so x0 y1. Then 1•8=8

You can pretend X = 0 and Y= 1 to make the equation true. Then if you use that for the big numbers, you get 8

Instead You can take x=0 & y=1 then 5*0+3*1=3 and (32⁰=1)*(8¹=8) =8 you can choose the easy way instead right🙂
