I was going to buy a croissant at Starbucks, but listening to you say “eat the protein first” I decided to just order green tea, go home and have eggs instead 🤣😂🤣

For everyone asking what fiber? 1:16 says "whole grains, traditional Chinese medicinal foods, and prebiotics". 6:59 says "20g inulin" which is a prebiotic.

How I wish I’d used YouTube more for information like this when my grandfather was alive. Thanks for the info, super helpful.

I was shocked how useful fiber is for weight loss and maintenance. I used to think it was just good for making the trip to the restroom easier.

Toms the type of dude to do a video warning you about Saturated fat but then do another promoting a protein with brown rice which some samples have been shown in numerous studies to contain arsenic. Anything for a pay check for this guy

Amazing stuff. Thank you so much for digging into the state-of-the-art research for us Thomas!

Great video. But I think it would have benefitted from an example of what 37g of fibre looks like. For example _ blank_ amount of broccoli or _blank_ amount of cabbage.

In February, my routine blood work showed my A1c was at 6.0. My blood work in June showed a 5.4. It's all from increasing fiber and getting sugar out of my diet. The added bonus is losing 20 pounds. My skinny dad developed Type II diabetes as his diet was awful. I am determined that I won't go the same route. Thanks for this info!

Not sure if I missed it in the video but I have a question. Should it be soluble or insoluble fiber (or both/either)? Not sure which one they gave in the study.

I downloaded the Science article but the description of the "high-fiber diet" is unclear. Did I miss something?
High-fiber diet composed of whole grains, traditional Chinese medicinal foods, and prebiotics (the WTP diet; see materials and methods and table S1 in the supplementary materials) as the treatment group (W group; n = 27 patients)
It included three ready-to-consume pre-prepared foods (Formula No. 1, No. 2 and No. 8; Perfect (China) Co, Zhongshan, China). More specifically, formula No. 1 was a pre-cooked mixture of nine components from wholegrains and traditional Chinese medicinal food plants that are rich in dietary fiber, including Fagopyrum tataricum, adlay (Coix lachrymal-jobi L.), oat, white bean, yellow corn, red bean, yam, peanut and lotus seed, which was prepared in the form of canned gruel (360 g wet weight per can) by a contract food manufacturer. According to previous reports, the components in Formula No. 1 contain diverse structures of fiber, such as β-glucan, arabinoxylan, cellulose, hemicellulose, resistant starch, gums and oligosaccharides (38-45). Formula No. 2 was a powder preparation for infusion (10 g per bag) containing bitter melon (Momordica charantia) and oligosaccharides, including fructo-oligosaccharides and oligoisomaltoses. Formula No. 8 was a powder preparation for infusion (15 g per bag) containing kudzu starch, inulin and resistant dextrin.
