Between this guy and Dr. Berg they literally saved my life. I had no idea I was killing myself will all of the sugar I was consuming. I drank tons of soft drinks and Gatorade with the high fructose corn syrup to the tune of over 300 grams per day. Dropping sugar and intermittent fasting took 52 pounds off me in 6 months. August 4, 2022 will be my one year anniversary and I'm now off all 4 prescriptions I was on for triglycerides and blood pressure. I onlywish my PCP would have made these recommendations to me in years past. So thankful to Youtube for providing these platforms for us.

I’m diabetic and I can attest to how insanely sleepy this makes you feel. I was never a napper and I sleep VERY well at night as a rule. But after a meal with even moderate carbs (like 1pc of toast with my eggs) it will roll over me like a tsunami. All of a sudden, about 1/2 hour after I eat I canNOT hold my head up or eyes open much less exercise. It’s almost forced me to eat low carb/keto just to stay awake during the day.

Yup. Before I was diagnosed diabetic I was falling asleep in the parking lot of the restaurant before driving home. That was about five years ago, and I'm totally better now. Magnesium was a big deal, particularly for inflammation. Ultimately, radically low carb and water fasting is what it took.

A brisk walk for 15-20 mins will bring down glucose levels. Of course weight training helps quite a bit but any level of movement helps.
It’s not diet or exercise. Both are needed!

I had metabolic syndrome and my doctor acted like it was normal and fine...
I stopped going to that doctor and started intermittent fasting. Been doing it for 3 years. In the first year of fasting and adding some needed supplements, I completely reversed the issue with the early diabetes, my blood pressure has reduced and my liver enzymes were fixed.

2 hours after lunch i would be so tired i could not function. I would zone out and drift off but never really fall asleep. It was PROFOUND lethargy. Never knew it was insulin resistance. Keto stopped that realy quick. I am fantastic now. And thin.

Yup my carbs come from yoghurt, kefir and unsweetened cranberry juice. I strictly speaking do not eat carbs now. So no rice, potatoes or sweets or chocolates etc. I've lost around 15kg in last two months.

I had metabolic syndrome and my doctor had no idea how to fix it except for "lower your calories and exercise" and she even rolled her eyes at me when I said I'd lose weight going low carb. I wish I had known that low carb was more than just a weight loss trick back in the day.

For me, sleep apnea made me feel tired all the time. Insulin resistance presented differently: I would eat high carb content then feel my heart rate increase and generally feel like crap. My hypertension med could not keep up. Went low carb in 2018 and stopped feeling that roller coaster effect, lost weight, didn’t need hypertension med after 5 days on the new plan. Crazy. All my research into hypertension did not tell me to reduce carbs and increase salt.

I just found you recently and admittedly only have watched a couple of your videos, but I had subbed. After watching this I have you with notifications on now. This made so much sense to me! I went from type 2 to pre diabetic, but I still have fatigue and LOTS of inflammation and pain. Wow! You are the first person to explain what is happening to me and giving me tools to deal with it. Thank you SO much!

I was on a strict organic, paleo diet. I got a coupon from the cafeteria from the hospital I worked in. I got roast beef, roll, pie, rice. About a half and a half later, I wanted to lay down in the middle of the nurses station and take a nap, I felt terrible, exhausted

Regarding Fructose, Dr Lustig from the video Sugar The Bitter Truth says that eating fructose is a bad idea for a diabetic. Yes, it doesn't spike glucose in the short run, but Fructose causes insulin resistance in the long run so it makes the diabetic problem worse. And as artificial sweeteners have their issues too, it is best to get off your addiction to sweetness altogether and learn to appreciate a variety of other tastes.

I have good solution for sleepy people as i am too (beside keto and fasting). It's yoga's spike mat. Try it when you want to sleep ;) i am practicing it and it helps better than coffee, cold shower or anything else

Another reason for fatigue after a meal can be an allergy or intolerance to something in the meal. So if other possibilities don’t solve the problem, consider that.

I was needing to go back to bed after meals and it turned out to be my very specific and very reproducible reaction to eggs. I usually only ate them at my relative’s house and at conferences - I thought my aunt and uncle were just boring and that’s why I needed to go to bed again after a scrambled egg. At conferences back in the day, there were very few vegetarian options so I was eating eggs at breakfast and lunch - and an hour later, I would be overwhelmed with fatigue for about another hour (head falling down on chest, unable to focus). I drove for six hours with no problem and then had an egg salad sandwich- same thing happened on the road within an hour.

I thought I needed more protein and started eating more eggs and cottage cheese, which made things even worse. I finally had to not eat at all until my work was done.

Guess what my major allergens are? Egg and dairy...

Two weeks after eliminating egg and dairy completely, and I was fine. No more fatigue from the egg, no more spacey feeling and headaches if I missed or delayed a meal (I got to the point where I needed dairy in a meal to get rid of the withdrawal symptoms).

So just remember that the body’s reactions to allergenic substances can be something you don’t really expect. It’s not all about hives and anaphylactic shock.

I think that dietary changes such as following a new diet plan (such as vegan, vegetarian, paleo, keto, low carb, gluten-free etc.) sometimes get rid of problems simply because people accidentally stop eating something to which they are unknowingly allergic or intolerant. The reverse can also happen, of course, if you suddenly start eating more of something that triggers allergic reactions or intolerances.

One of your best concise videos on inflammation and the pain caused by it.

What if it's not insulin resistance but glucose intolerance from doing keto or low carb for too long? How would you know the difference?
