I am an Apple guy, for good reasons, however having an ARM windows chip is great news, as Max says it will keep Apple focused. We all remember 10 years of no progress from Intel because they dominated the market, completion is good for us all !

Linux will take this chips to another level

If snapdragon CPU could use Graphic card from nvidia or AMD then Apple will be in trouble !

This is a very good thing. Apple needs direct competition to keep it from turning into Adobe.

I doubt it will be any more powerful than the m3’s, but the fact that windows users finally get access to good arm chips is good to see. Competition is what we need in desktop/laptop arm CPUs, it will push Apple to make them even better, massive consumer W

Ok…in a “Lab environment” the chips look great….what about “real life use”? That we will have to wait…

I hope Microsoft takes ARM builds seriously and the rest of the industry follows. After using a Apple M chip laptop its near impossible to go back to x86 laptops that run hot, loud and have terrible battery life.

I did not see performance per watt or efficiency. The lack of data suggests something may be less exciting . Of course, by having 12 performance cores, 50% more than the M3 chip it would be a shocker if the multicore score was not better! I do not think Apple is worried about this. Maybe Intel, but they have been worried for years due to their poor record of upgrades over the last 5-7 years. Then we have to understand these tests are done in perfect condition on reference devices with fans and large casing probably with max RAM and the fastest SSD. When we test with Macs with the same configs when in a retail unit running on Windows in real world tests maybe with non-ARM software, then the reality may not be as rosy.

M3 Max comparison is needed, it's not fair to compare elite and ultra chips to base M3

Even more important than performance: Will MSFT make such a well designed compatibility layer like Apple made?

7:31 or egpu's! That would be wonderful. It's the only thing I feel Apple silicon is missing out on.

The Apple M3 is using TSMC 3nm while Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite is using TSMC 4nm which is really advanced 5nm.
The performance improvement from M2 to M3 from Apple is not good, I was expecting more with the move from 4nm to 3nm.
Microsoft Project Volterra was exactly what Windows on ARM developers needed. The Snapdragon offers way more performance than previous attempts so tings will only get better.
It is exciting to have all these choices now.
X Elite is Gen 1

At the moment I think Snapdragon is going after Intel/AMD laptop market more than Apple.

It will be interesting to see what happens when these chips are actually available in products.

Hopefully they eventually come out with desktop CPU's. That's where things will get exciting.

I think a bigger question would be apps: Mac is sufficiently popular, especially amongst power users, to where it can force companies to make an ARM native solution. Uncertain if Windows has that leverage as it is a question of how many will buy computers with the X Elite, and is it worth their time. I assume if it compiles for the M line of chips it doesn't necessarily mean it will just be a plug and play for X Elite.

Do we also see more Arm processor
In mini pc or Qualcomm also have more plans in Arm based computer.😮

I can't wait to get this kind of power at low wattage in mini PCs too.
