It's getting better, but Microsoft still needs to have software developers write Windows apps that specifically access the hardware registers of Snapdragon X Elite SoC. That's the advantage of Apple: MacOS is closely matched with the M-serie SoC's, so applications take full advantage of the hardware capabilities of the M1 to M4 chip.

Did you miss Zenbook S16 OLED reviews? Ryzen AI 370 provides similar CPU performance in both ST and MT workloads. Their iGPU is faster, especially in games. Zenbook has 2880x1800 120Hz OLED screen, just like the best Snapdragon X Elite laptops, same weight, same build quality and it costs the same. Battery life in idle/lightweight tasks is worse. That’s Qualcomm’s main advantage. But perf/watt in heavy workloads is similar. And it’s manufactured on the same TSMC 4P process too. And both have similar TOPS rated NPUs too.

If you choose Qualcomm you get better idle/light workload efficiency. If you choose AMD you get faster iGPU and better software compatibility.

Where is the revolution?

It’s a great chip, but I wouldn’t call 20% better battery life in idle/light tasks a revolution. Revolution needs much more than that.

It really makes no sense at all that people are even consider using MacBooks, as long as the objectively worst OS, MacOS, is still on there and now there is an alternative with an OS that you can actually use to get work done, be that Linux or Windows.

As a software developer, Windows running on Parallels Desktop for Mac is still a better experience, I don't need any other laptop.

Qualcomms ability to “Astroturf” is impressive.

Snapdragon messed up. They went AI when they should have used that die space for a double size iGPU instead. All they did is include their cellphone GPU and they are too slow compared to the competition. Add to that all the driver issues, and the laptop is a non buy for me. All the office types managed to convince themselves that GPUs don't matter lol, well the sales will prove GPU is everything, not AI, and not CPU. NVidia is worth Trillions, not Intel, for a reason. GPU GPU GPU.

How have the older ARM on windows chips improved since the release of the Snapdragon X elite? Have there been any improvements in laptops using the SQ1, SQ2 etc or even the HP Envy X2, Lenovo Miix 630 or Asus Nova Go that used the Snapdragon 835 from 2017

Love my 16" Book4 Edge. It's snappy, dead silent, never heats up on my lap and the screen is top notch. Battery is great. Currently on 43% watching YT and it says I have 6.25 hours to go on battery. Pretty impressive for windows

Been editing with davinci on my lenovo yoga slim 7x no problem 4k. I've got a 30gb version.
