I think Intel and AMD are more worry about the Snapdragon X chips than Apple.

How come Qualcomm is comparable on phones but some of y'all think they can't do the same for Laptops

Been a lot of rumours floating around, some from Qualcomm (ex) employees, suggesting Qualcomm has been fudging their benchmarks, meaning in reality the X plus/elite barely match M1 performance, so we'll see. Not an Apple fanboy, would love to see competition in this market for some powerful thin laptops that don't cost a second mortgage, but the amount of these rumours as of late is quite worrying. Even M1 level Windows machines would be welcome, if the price is right, but Qualcomm does have a history of exaggerating.

damn, I'd consider moving back to linux laptop if these chips are real competition. Apple M series is just too good. Love to see real competition in the chip space.

Tom's Hardware has an article in which there are claims that the Qualcomm's results were faked. Apparently, nobody has been able to reproduce the benchmarks.

I'm not worries about performance. I'm sure if anyone can make a good Apple Silicon-like ARM cpu it will be Qualcomm. What I'm concerned with is software integration and cost. For example: My laptop use case is primarily running backing tracks on Ableton Live. I won't really need plugin compatibility since most of my tracks are either generic midi for automation or wav files, but I still need Ableton Live to work well for it to be worthwhile to me.

Would cad apps like Revit be able to run on these chips? I doubt it since they are so optimized for Intel.

there is info about the basic consumption? for example how much longer this qualcomm chip will last in terms of battery in a day instead of a normal windows pc

Will these be upgradable like ram and hard drives also will they be solder in ? … thanks

I would like to see you guys Qualcomm Benchmark update when you get the laptops at hand. I Don’t really trust any Qualcomm benchmarks since EX Employees have been rumored some numbers fudging at Qualcomm.

I'm an avid X86 user and am only interest in ARM chips due to their power efficiency. This is the most important thing for me as my other workstations are used to run intensive resource applications via RDP if I need it to do so.

i just watched a video, where OEM's are stating Qualcomms new chips aren't performing on windows at the numbers that qualcomm is claiming, so should be interesting to see how windows and all the other apps running at the same time and how it actually handles,

Seems like they've been talking about this chip for almost a year, and still no actual hardware in the wild, just "coming mid 2024". Will wait and see, but definitely nice to get some competition. The funny thing is, this won't be so successful unless Microsoft gets off their asses and actually makes Windows ARM a priority.

This competition in the ARM SoC space is going to be good for both sides of the fence... things are really starting to get exciting!!

Waiting for tests on the battery life, but early Geekbench 6 scores show M2 Pro levels of performance.

I'd love to see Qualcomm's chip inside handheld game consoles like the Steam Deck, if compatibility layer is not a problem

ITS ALL ABOUT PERFORMANCE PER WATT, in a laptop, this is PARAMOUNT!

So in raw performance theyre similar, but mac optimization is wayyy better.
