Oh my god my ex did ALL of these. Appeared super confident with friends and family etc, but clearly deep down was HELLA insecure. Would often make jokes at my expense and when I would get upset just say “ugh you’re too sensitive I can’t say anything to you”. Now I see that he knew he had a dime and knew I could have done better. Dodged a bullet there.

Signs of insecurity:

Criticizing and bringing up your clothes, your body, etc. as a common theme in the relationship. He wants control over your appearance.

If he shows jealousy and attitude whenever you talk about or are around another man, even if they are a family member.

He never compliments or cheers for your accomplishments. Everytime he will find a way to make it about himself, change the topic, belittle you.

He's always making "jokes" in snarky and backhanded ways, when he is serious. He is not vulnerable or straight forward, because he is insecure.

He cannot hold a real conversation.

I remember my ex … man one time we all out and his boys around and the next day I was like what was that one song your friend played in the car?? He gon say “ why? na you good. My ex boyfriend is insecure about my ex husband my kids father. He believes I should cut all ties with him. I was married to my ex husband for over 20 years.
