Why Am I Skinny? | Eric Bandholz

Today Eric is explaining why he's skinny, and why he doesn't care.

At 6'5" and 170 lbs, Eric explains that he's always been an athlete and that at his height he would need an insane calorie surplus to pack on bulk weight, and he doesn't see a need to consume excess resources for the sake of extra muscle mass.

Instead, he would rather spend time with his family, his business, and exercising to stay healthy. Eric also subscribers to CEO Strength - an exercise program that incorporates primarily body weight workouts; a perfect approach for him since he travels quite frequently and doesn't want to have to find a gym everywhere he goes.

Eric insists that the goal of working out and being healthy is to be the best, most confident, and healthiest version of yourself you can be.

I feel you. I've always been skinny myself. I'm 6'2" and used to weigh even 154 pounds. Now I'm at 164. But to be honest the only thing that I'd change is my arms. I'm working out to make them a bit fuller. But I really like it being skinny. It's easier to wear skinnier jeans and thanks to the way my body is built I can pretty much wear anything and look good in it too.

I love this... time and time again, I feel like the fitness industry has created this ideal that everyone needs to be. Being healthy and the aesthetics of the body are two different beasts.

I actually think its creates an unhealthy image. Just builds shame and this cycle of not being good enough.

I spent a year body building, eating so much chicken... meal prepping every week. I hated it, same thing every day. Going to the gym to do repetitive exercise is boring. What happens when you get to an age where you have kids? Your responsibilities increase? I think the optimal path is conquering healthy eating habits with a dose of physical activities.

I went Vegan after watching What the Health... It's scary whats going with animal protein. I found my passion again to cook and started doing hobbies that are athletic like rock climbing.

I urge anyone out there that feels confined by this narrative built by the fitness industry to sell you products to try and break out of the pattern of capitalism.

Amen brother. Im 6'4 and 225 and I feel too big right now. Until about two years ago i was usually 180-190. People keep asking me why I want to lose my spare tire and Im like "because I was always skinny before I got a desk job and fell into depression." Skinny is who I am when I feel best. When I am hiking the most. Spending the most time outside. When I am who I am. Im lean. Im me.

I'm 6'0 and weigh 76.43 kgs (and I also have a beard but quite a short one), I'm quite slim for my height but I'm not really that skinny like people say I am, I don't really care what people say, I feel that my weight is fine for my height.

Eric is just very slim for his very tall height, that's a perfectly healthy weight for his height, I don't think we should worry or care about what other people think, it's only their opinions.

I sincerely think that being confident about yourself pisses some people off. I'm a heavy guy, I powerlift and I f-ing love ice cream=heavy dude! Now someone recently asked me why I don't lose weight and my reply was: Why?! Now my question to that person was: May I ask why you care? And how's my weight any of your business?

I stay pretty healthy, I'm at the gym at least 4 times/week, so what if I weight 10-20 pounds to long as I feel good about myself that should be enough. And btw my current weight is 225lbs and I'm 5, 9 (182cm here in Europe) so I'm not obese, in case someone should think that, being obese is something totally different and probably belongs in a completely different video ;)

Cheers and thanks for a great video.

I've got a similar body, not very muscular but actually well balanced and since I am rocking a full whale beard it kinda makes the appearance to others that it doens't match my body type. Well if you ask me, I feel confident with my body and I think that actually matters the most. If you would listen to every fella how you should be looking like than you will never be happy. Now this is not a excuse not to work out, you should work out if you want to but not to satisfy other people.

I've always been really skinny too, and when I was younger I would sometimes get teased for it. Then in my twenties I had to go on medication that made me gain 40 lbs in 40 days and in the course of a month, I went from thin to fat and none of my clothes fit me anymore. After stopping the meds, I shed all the weight and now in my thirties I've gone back to being skinny again. Having experienced the opposite, I am now very okay with that.

beards go in and out of style but muscular body is classic i guess. i am also skinny but trying to change that. I also take soylent. being in college right now makes it hard to make ur own food so soylent is a blessing indeed.
