Why Some Skinny People don’t Gain Weight? – Dr. Berg

Dr. Berg talks about skinny person who is eating junk food and sugar, yet because they are not fat thinks they can eat whatever they want. However, if you do a blood profile, you will find they have cholesterol problems, high A1C, prediabetic, etc. Yet they have a fast metabolism that can burn up lots of sugar. So they burn up fat but they can't break down the cholesterol. Cholesterol is not used as fuel.

Overweight people and obese type 1 live longer. Being overweight is one aspect that forces people to change as compared to a skinny person who may not be as motivated.

He is very CORRECT. I’ve been skinny all of my life eating whatever I wanted and when I went to the doctor and did blood work I learned I was pre-diabetic (back then, not anymore)
Most skinny people don’t have the push for them to choose to eat better because they don’t feel threatened. Once they finally have to go to the doctor then they learn they have to make a change. So now I choose wisely.

When I was much younger and worked out often, guys would approach me in the gym and say "you don't need to work out. You already look good". I'm guessing they were hitting on me and didn't know what else to say, but I think they also meant it. I think they actually thought the gym was for people who need to get in shape. Not stay in shape

Actually I am quite happy I was diagnosed with Insulin Resistance when I was 20. It woke me up from the "I am so skinny, I can eat whatever I want and it won't hurt me" -illusion. This diagnosis is the only thing that motivates me to eat healthy 24/7 and to exercise. It made me clear how disgusting junk food is and how toxic my relationship with sugar was as I craved it all the time.

I've been underweight all my life. If I reduce carb I feel like I lose more weight than I can afford. I don’t know what to do.

I guess that's where the term "skinny fat" came from.

I have started following your video's and methods  for about 2 weeks now,   I've lost 14 pounds and feel so much better, I've followed other quick diets and none have been as effective as yours which really is a way of life in my opinion and not to mention your videos are motivating and informative.  Fantastic work keep it up.   I start Ramadan next week so I will definitely use the intermittent fasting and hunger video as a guide.

Tony Robbins said something similar when he released his 'Get the Edge' box set in 2005.
What's interesting is that Robbins was basically saying the we should fast for 3, 5 or 7 days and live on a green drinks - such as barley grass or wheat grass.
The science made total sense and he explained how am over-acid body stores that acid in the body fat of the individual - which can create problems for skinny people.
An alkaline green drink will flood your body with alkaline and neutralise the acid within our blood.
The takeaway statement was that a cancerous tumour can only survive in an acid environment and it will not be able to thrive in one which is alkaline.

Thanks for the info. My dad and his brother and their mum have been thin their whole lives despite not watching their diets yet they all have high cholesterol. I have always had a very hard time putting on weight, although it’s gotten a bit easier now as I’m in my mid 20’s, will take this as a warning not to be complacent and am eating whole carbs, healthy fats and protein and avoiding dairy, sugar and processed foods whenever possible.

So what's the solution for skinny people with high cholesterol? How then they. Can lose the triglyceride if their body reacts that way when their metabolism is high and they are not able to breakdown the fat?

My grandma is pretty thin and she thinks she's eating healthy by avoiding meat, eating a lot of fruit and juices but she has diabetes. She also never eats fish or a lot of fatty foods because she thinks they raise her high cholesterol.

I'm skinny...i used to try keto diet before it seemed didn't work on me...coz when i was on high fat diet i would feel low energy and didn't have power to do anything in a single day...when i went back to my normal diet to eat carb, fat and protien as usually, i became energetic again...the point is not everyone is suitable for keto diet...u must experiment yourself...just dont eat too much sugary food, refine carb and fast food...btw, eventhought i'm skinny...i'm 65kg and 170cm height, my bmi is good...I did my blood test last year...and the result was okay...my routine diet, in the morning i drink 1 cup of black tea and some unflavor bread, during lunch i consume, carb, fat and protien...during dinner time, i consume carb, fat, protien but in small amount...when i feel hungry at night i just eat unflavor bread with plain water...i barely drink sugary bevarage and refine carb...i always drink plain water whenever i feel thristy..i do eat fast food once a week...that all

I was ALWAYS skinny, at 17 went into the military, 5'11" and 117 pounds. Topped at 6 feet and was 135 pounds till about 42 or so. And my cholesterol was atrocious no matter what I did, diet, nothing helped, the pills the doc gave me made me sick. Last summer 4th of July weekend they took me into the hospital for an aortobifemoral bypass and everything that could go wrong did, ICU for 13 days, in the hospital for a month, then a nursing home unable to walk for another month. Then home but almost a year post op still minimal ability to get around. The aorta was over 90% blocked, the femoral was left side 100% blocked and right over 90%. I actually went from 167 (all middle age spread fat) down to a low body fat and 127 pounds, I am only now 8.5 months after getting home at 149 pounds. I avoid doctors now because they ALWAYS want to make it your fault and when you try to explain to Doctor God that dietary changes over a lifetime made ZERO difference they just will refuse to believe you. I am afraid if I have to talk to one more of these self convinced one size fits all pill pushers that I will go to jail for punching him in the nose, that is why I try to have female doctors, they do not make me feel that way even when they are wrong, they just do not seem like expensive arrogant assholes!
