If people come here but are not willing to embrace the culture, which includes hunting, guns, camping, respect of those who hold more traditional views, then please stay where you are. :).

Im a trucker and I miss going through Montana. The truck stops are fantastic and you get great abundance of peace and quiet. I must have been lucky but I never got beaten down by the weather there.

Moved to Great Falls back in September, to help a friend with his business. I'm already planning on heading back to North Carolina, this state is not for me at all.

Let's not forget Montana's "Personal Property" tax too. Just because they don't have a sales tax, don't mean they don't tax you.

Who can afford $800, 000. The median income in this country is what 60, 000. Where is all the money coming from?

Lived just outside Superior (60ish miles north of Missoula), hauled horses frequently to Billings. 2 different worlds, with a bunch of little worlds in between. Love Montana!!!!

One thing the people who move to Montana that never going to regret is, meeting great, nice, and honest people like you.
Thank you

I lived in Alaska for a few years in a remote area. Montana seems like easy mode.

Great information! I hold a geography degree. I always tell people that you need to understand the physical, socioeconomic, and cultural aspects of where you choose to live. You must do the research!

Currently doing research to move to Montana. I live in northern Utah where the population has exploded the past few years. As of now I’m leaning towards Kalispell or somewhere in Flathead county. Cost of living is slightly cheaper there than where I’m at, plus surprisingly higher wages for my field of work. Being from Utah I’m used to cold and snowy winters (albeit not as severe as Montana)

Six years near Kalispell and we love it! Born & raised in western South Dakota and a cowboy at heart. We knew what we were getting into and appreciated the conservative values.

It's a beautiful state.... to visit, but living there is definitely not for me...

Please have enough sense to do your homework! Wow, it's not Florida or Southern California. It's sparsely populated and it gets cold, who would have thought that.

Moved down to Montana from Alaska. No regrets. We love that it does not get dark until after 5pm in December and the winters are much shorter than Alaska. A nice long upland bird/waterfowl hunting season from 1-Sept to mid January. Great gardening in the summer.

Moved to Bozeman. Just wish I knew beforehand that I could have moved into a homeless encampment rather than spend 3k on rent. Nice to know our city government also doesn’t enforce laws just like Cali.

Heck yeah - Winter here in bozeman is amazing if you embrace it. It takes time to slow down when youve come from warmer places but give it and you might come to love it as i have...

Montana culture is definitely OUTDOOR. Hunting, fishing, 4x4s and dirt bikes, motorcycles, horseback riding, biking, hiking etc. are what people do in their spare time… plus drinking of course!

So connect the dots between the $700, 000 home in Montana and the lower than average wages in Montana?
