How to conquer the 2 mile run:

Run, it's honestly isnt that bad. If you run a few times a week and maintain a decent pace, I can almost guarantee you can get the 2 mile run in under the minimum 23 minutes.

I used to be a heavier guy weighing 245 pounds before I chose to lose some weight so I could enlist and I could still do the 2 mile in 22 minutes when I was that heavy. Now I'm weighing 212 and able to get it in 18 minutes.

#1. Start out sprinting 1/2 way around the 1st lap (1/8 mile), get ahead of the pack and congestion...yes, you might get passed later, but you are not racing against anyone else, just yourself!

#2.. then settle into a nice trotting pace using a left foot hitting the ground cadence count ("1, 2, 3, and 4"), whilst taking in a slow yet lungs filling breath during "1, 2, 3", and on "4-ooor" letting it out for a few steps, repeat, breath control with pace steps sync'd...keep hands down low swinging (Right: 1-3 o'clock, Left: 9-11 o'clock- ish: don't waste energy and oxygen holding hands up high) until the last 1/4 mile (last lap starting),

#3. then pickup the pace for 1/8 mile (1st half of the last lap), bigger steps, bigger arm swings...

#4. then 1/2 a lap left, sprint (high forward kicking knees, pump those arms) for all it's worth to the finish line! If you have energy left at the end, you didn't go fast enough!!! Drop and give me 10!

My younger soldiers hated me, because if they didn't beat the "old guy's" PT score, they got plenty of extra SPECIAL HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING (SHIT) until the next PT TEST!

lol when I go into the army I’m gonna nail this. I run XC and track and my 2 mile PR IS 9:31

I weigh 165 lbs and my 2 mile time is 14:18 avg is 7:09 a mile
Now I weigh 170 and my 2 mile time is 13:53

I use to max with a 13 minute 2 miles. Before retirement i was doing around 16 minutes.

I ship out to Fort Sill next month. I’m a firefighter EMT full time right now and I’m not a great runner. I’m great with strength and short bursts of speed and energy but long distance endurance kicks my butt lol

If the time limit is 22 minutes to run 2 miles, that is super easy by running 6 mph for a 10 min mile pace.
That is not at a cardio level.

In OSUT my last ACFT run time was 12:14. And I wasn't a big runner prior to going to OSUT.

My 2 mile run is in 4 days, and it is not under 23 minutes but rather 15 minutes, Ive ran a bit and Im doubting myself but If I ignore my body I should be fine

This was one of the main things I found different between the US and the UK. The UK soldiers are all fit as F, where the US was strong as F. Working with the Marines in Afghanistan was a lot of fun, tho. The food the US get and their scoff houses are something else.

Active duty solution: run 8 miles twice a week, that way if you can’t max 2 everyone will say you didn’t want it bad enough

I do 3 long runs and 1 speed/repeat day a week

Im 17 stone ( 238lbs) I run 2 miles in 17minutes my best 5km is 25:30

I as a runner can run a 2 mile in 11:30 if you out tineninto working on speed with a little bit of distance then youll do great

Is the 2 mile run still 16 minutes or is it 23 minutes now because i hear both. I could do the push ups and set ups just fine but the run time changed i hear, what time do i need to pass the run test.
