Just live in the moment. Running can be very monotonous. Experience every pain and discomfort because that’s exactly the sport requires. That’s why I love it!

Tips for disconnecting the brain I use from time to time:
-plan out things for the day
-brainstorm stuff I want to do on a bucket list
-Practice another language with imagined conversations
-think about what I want to do if I travel to another country
-if met a celebrity, what would I say?

Just stuff like that really makes the time fly by from 10 to 30 min for me

Don't look down, look at something ahead of you and run to it, then pick another thing and run to it, it's way better for your form. Also if you aernt running alone, focus on a person.

Best trick I’ve come across is to do a step by step analysis of your body when you feel like you want to stop. Are my feet hurting bad enough to stop? No. My legs? No. My lungs? No. So why the hell would I stop. Makes you less dependent on external motivation.

I always think of the people who can't run or even walk and then I feel grateful for my abilities and can easily challenge myself a bit more :)

Treat it like a video game. I pretend I’m at home on the couch, and all I have to do to keep moving is keep holding forward on the controller stick. Basically, you don’t care when a video game character gets tired, you just want them to keep moving. Maybe my brain is weird but that works well for me

My HS XC coach taught me two tricks I live for to this day: Let your body loose and flop like a fish when you’re running down hill, don’t be stiff, let gravity let your legs just fly down the hill. 2) every now and then put your arms down and let them also flop around (we apparently did a lot of flopping around HAHA), shake out the stress and energy of having to hold them up when you’re running. It’ll rejuvenate you.

I used to listen to podcasts that discussed really deep concepts and then I would have to concentrate so much that I wouldn’t concentrate on my body

If I know that I have to go on a long run, I don’t allow myself to listen to music the whole week and then I am able to feel the music more at my run which distracts me a lot

Running is spiritual. You are three separate entities. Mind, Body, and Spirit. Check in with your mind, but don't allow it to tell you things that aren't true. Listen to your body and how it feels. But your spirit is what really moves you forward. 🤘🥰

needed this today. Tip 3 is actually good, the disconnection is true in this case. I notice during my run, my mind starts to get bored after 5 mins in. But when I put on a comedy show to distract me from the boredom, I can run a lot more.
